Losing bryan was such a shame, seeing all the posts on hormones, cypro, sprio and such was so helpful. Guy knew his stuff.

He did, but there are modern day people on here that are like Bryan. Inbeforethecure, and a few others know an awful lot about male pattern baldness from a science point of view. Im just saying there are some very smart and knowledgeable people on these forums now to help fill the void bryan left

I learned so much from Bryan about male pattern baldness as a 16 year old. He simply stated facts, it was refreshing whereas now most people inflate a lot of things with emotion and personal biases.

theres a bit more information available in today's time since science progresses. for example Pgd2 was discovered to be involved in hairloss only in 2012. and Bryan has one of the oldest accounts on the forumn.he knew alot even for todays time and especially for back then.

I love seeing veteran members like yourself who have been on here for so long. Whenever I see an inactive account from like 12 years ago I always say 'I wonder what his hair looks like now'. Have you managed to maintain/regrow since creating an account in 2005?
I feel the same! I wish more people would stick around, theres tons of old threads with interesting discussions but the members last login was years ago, probably won't be able to get a reply if you ask a question

Once I saw post the OP posted after like 5 years, he stopped taking meds so he lost all his hair. Just popped in to give his final update. It felt so surreal seeing a post from 8 years ago and then they repost,
nice to know that happens. usually the ones i find, they just dissapear and never log back in to update. -__-

Man I love reading old posts, I get so curious. Once I saw post the OP posted after like 5 years, he stopped taking meds so he lost all his hair. Just popped in to give his final update. It felt so surreal seeing a post from 8 years ago and then they repost, its like seeing the persons life in front of your eyes. I also wonder if someone in like 10 years will see my posts, GourmetStyleWellness has made me really notice the passage of time for some reason.
yeah, it does feel surreal, like the post is right in front of you and you feel like you could just comment on it and have discussion with the original posters but then realized so much time has passed

All wrong. All of it. Estrogen combats dht, the more you have, the less susceptible you are to hairloss. This entire theory is incorrect.
I would know, I’m a female, I lost all my estrogen, and it caused AA.

well as you may know, females and males aren't exactly the same. High estrogens in a male are a disaster, low estrogens in females are a disaster. You want a high androgen/estrogen ratio in a male, and a low androgen/estrogen ratio in females. On top of this A/E ratio, females have far more progesterone that will give another layer of protection. Seen women after menopause?

So yeah, most of what OP said was wrong, and his e2>DHT conversion is insane Googling must be hard. But it's not like you know much better.

People should stop viewing DHT as a problem. Nobody knows exactly how good or bad is this hormone in a vacuum.

not for hair
Estrgoen dominance can cause hairloss but veeeeeery rarely. The more E, the better. My mother and sisters have estrgoen dominance. Let me put it this way - my sister was put on aromatase inhibitors to fall pregnant because she’s so E soaked, and she never lost a single f**king hair from being in aromatase inhibitors. In short, if you have a f*** load of E, you are mega protected from hairloss.

ahhh womansplaining lol. Seems hard to figure out that males and females have different hormone balances to maintain. For males you want low estradiol (lower half of the range, basically) which will keep T high and hair nice and strong. For females you want high estradiol which will also keep T in range and hair nice and strong. When progesterone starts going down during menopause hair can't be compared to 20 yo women.

Claiming that high estradiol is better for male hair is insane. Not one single study proves it. (EDIT: misunderstood, you prolly meant applying topical estradiol. In this case, maybe. But systemic high e2 is terrible for a male)

Now that I think of it, maybe OP was misguided because he associated high e2 with high DHT thinking e2 somehow is reduced to DHT - which is flat out wrong.

What could be an area of research, is whether the increase of aromatase activity leads to a compensatory increase in 5ar activity. And whether an increase in estradiol in the (male) scalp leads to an increase of DHT in the scalp, since DHT is a strong anti estrogen.

It doesn't require to be a phD to understand that nolvadex can be a disaster in females (antagonist to the ER in the scalp) whereas it was the ancillary drug of choice (before aromatase inhibitors) for bodybuilders 30 years ago and they had luscious hair.

2 genders, 2 different hormonal balances. Sorry if this offends people in here, I'm hoping this isn't Reddit or some other politically correct place.

Your genetically-defective hair is an outcast that thrives in a completely different environment compared to the rest of your body. Playing by an entirely different set of rules, it does not care what is 'good' for the male body. It is stuck in an inflammatory state which estrogen through it's growth factors and immune-suppressive properties does a great deal to help against. Pour on the estrogen and watch it grow and grow, all the while destroying the rest of your body. That is the perversion of male pattern baldness.

If this theory was even remotely correct, then you would see high levels of E2 and DHT in men with male pattern baldness. Their hormones are no different compared to their non-balding peers.

Not sure if you're replying to me or to OP @whatevr

you DO see high levels of SCALP dht to begin with. Now why is it high in the scalp in the first place, is it because of too much estradiol acting on the ER, how is SHBG involved, how do androgens balance it out, how does inflammation/cortisol/prolactin/calcification all trigger the hair loss: this topic is infinitely complex. Probably why topical estradiol works. Anyways a low T/E ratio isn't going to help hair health.

yeah, body hair.

it does reduce dht. there are studies which show this.
"Estradiol exhibited 40.8 +/- 14.2% inhibition at 10(-4) mol/L (P less than .01),"
But systemic high e2 is terrible for a male)
not for hair.
