mate, there is no standard regimen that every one can follow. Atleast, that has been my experience.

When I started treatment I thought I would get sides from finasteride and am safer or minoxidil. It turned out to be the opposite and I had to drop minoxidil.

What works for some one may not work for you. Peope have different types of hairloss and are at different stages on the norwood scale. Not to forget their ethnic background, eating habits etc.

The smart thing to do would be to try out the proven treatments for a year or so and then try a different approach if they don't work.

I know it would be a frustrating wait, but given the rate at which hair grows/cycles every few months, and the time needed to be given for treatments to work, there is no other option.

So anyone ?

I'll bite.

I rarely visit these last few years but saw your story, looks like you hit a bad shed, although my experience was I started getting results around month 4-5, and didn't 'peak' until well after the first year, so my personal advise is bust through it so long as you don't get non hair-related side effects.

Check out my original thread and pics from 6 years ago.

Up until Dec 31, 2008 I was taking at least 1/4 proscar (1.25 mg finasteride) daily, plus shampooing with Nizoral 2% 3 times a week. That was my regimine for the 6 years, period. I also took MSM and GSE very regularly, but they at best are very marginal IMO (does make hair grow fast though).

Attached below is a pic of my hair from last month. I think it's pretty obvious my hair as of last month is still much improved from baseline, start of 2003. I was 21 btw then, am 27 now.

I quit proscar due to unbearable brainfog which began Fall of '08. Determined it was 100% the proscar (definitely a very real side effect, although likely very uncommon; however if you do get it it's honestly horrible). No other sides really, did get some slight gyno during the first year taking it. Word of caution though, after 6 years on the stuff going off of it my body did have a tough time recalibrating. A few months after quitting had another issue with gyno, as well as libido problems (oddly enough never had libido / ED problems while on it). Both have since resolved.

Right now I'm using 5% spironolactone 1x a day, tricomin 2x a day, as well as sticking with the Nizoral. I know it'll likely start to chip away from here, but I figure those two are my best options left.

Best of luck to you guys.
