How has this worked for you guys? Anyone using this as a substitute for the oral finasteride and seeing results with this alone or the big 3 combo?

I would be interested to hear about any results with this. I know that Xandrox do a minoxidil with finasteride solution....finasteride didnt work at ALL for me in oral form.

I have been on a compounded minoxidil cream, formulated by a trusted lab, that contains .1% finasteride (among other things). It's only been a month, so I am obviously yet to conclude it if does anything. I will note, however, that my scalp feels 1000% percent better. I was on oral finasteride (2.5mg/day) for about a year. In that time, my scalp went through perpetual f*cking hell (dandruff, SD, burning, itching crawling, every day and night...) and I lost about 30% of my hair (confirmed visually and by three derms). I am hoping that by local introduction of the compound, I will avoid this.

if you're getting a solution from a REPUTABLE pharmacy, compounded with other stuff, and dermarolling with it, I trust that it's not a waste of time. I feel way better on this than oral finasteride, which just sucks my A*S, in my personal experience. I no longer understand the method of oral use of anything for male pattern baldness, when we can get topicals. Once again, that's my opinion. RU, compounded minoxidil with finasteride, and whatever else you want. That's my jam.

im just at a point where i really cant afford to take chances with treatments, nw2.5 but im diffusing and its been picking up pace ever since i took a 2month break from oral finasteride, if i let it get any worst im better off giving up. How should i go about asking my doctor to get me a liquid topical version of finasteride? I have my appointment next month and would be willing to ask her to help me get some topical finasteride.

With ANY treatment you will be taking a chance man. Sorry, but that's just how it is.

Go online to Murray Ave apothecary, fill out the online consultation / prescription form, determine the formula that's right for you and order it. I have been using 15% minoxidil, compounded with AA, progesterone, finasteride, hydrocortisone, etc...

What do you guys think about the potential side effects of topical finasteride ? Could they be as harsh as the ones typically reported when taken orally?

I'm a woman and I was wondering if doctors would be less reluctant to prescribe topical finasteride to me.

NB : I'm 22, at the very early stage of hair loss and I DO NOT WANT KIDS, AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT 15 YEARS !

Would there be any need to try topical finasteride if I'm already using ru? My temples in particular need everything I can throw at them.

Btw for those wondering where to get topical finasteride. Theirs a product called: Polaris labs nr-11. Which has 12% minoxidil and 0.1% topical finasteride. I've seen it for sale on a few sites biovea.com being one. It's not available in the us unfortunately.

probably u should add dutasteride instead of finasteride, might work better for temple regrowth...

If you're a woman you should NOT take finasteride, ever. And it will do nothing to stop hairloss for you.

Hairloss on women under 35 is very uncommon and may be a sign of some underlying health issue, go see a doctor ASAP.

I saw a general doctor, an endo and 2 derms. Did a lot of tests, everything normal. Androgenetic Alopecia is more common than you think ^^

In a perfect world, someone sells a cheap over the counter minoxidil+dutasteride shampoo plus a minoxidil+dutasteride styling product. That way you could go about your regular life without worrying about treating your hair loss. How cool would that be?

I'm very happy this thread is recent, and hopefully we might see some experiences shared here.

I just got some FUE for my frontal area (1400 grafts) 5 weeks ago, and immediately after my doctor suggested, I started taking finasteride. I gave it a try (1.25mg, M,W,F) during 20 days, but I found I completely lost my morning erections so I stopped altogether, and after more than a week I'm completely back to normal in that regard. Nonetheless, I am willing to try the topical finasteride to see if I can benefit from it while minimizing the side effects (if that's a possibility in my case, I still don't know)

I recently bought a topical solution called "Morr-F" (Minoxidil/Finasteride - 3%/0.1%) from an online pharmacy here in the UK (the product is shipped from Hong Kong, and it's manufactured by an Indian laboratory). I bought it because it was the only one I could find some days ago (it's £8 per 60ml), but as Iopu pointed out (thanks!) Biovea also sells "NR-11" (Minoxidil/Finasteride/Alfatradiol- 12%/0.1%/0.05%) so I might also be willing to try that one (as the alfatradiol seems like a plus).

It's also worth mentioning that Hasson & Wong in Canada are releasing a finasteride topical solution, which will be available (under prescription) in the next 1-2 months, as I wrote them directly asking for a way to obtain their product after I saw a blog post in their website about it two months ago.

Hey, do you know how much the topical from Hasson & Wong cost? Thanks.

Excellent, I think is worth giving it a try!

I ordered the NR-11 from polaris (3 months, 3 bottles) and it will be arriving next week, so I'll give it a try for at least 6 months (unless some undesirable side effects happen, or something... - hopefully not) as in my case I no longer have empty areas (after the hair transplant) but I do see clearly thinning on my crown and top areas (specially now that my hair is growing after the buzzcut), so even if it doesn't completely stop the hair loss in my case, any significant reduction on the hairloss rate will have clear benefits down the line (compared with doing nothing)
