That’s kinda what I thought.. sh*t all the stuff you know you could be a hair Doctor honestly..
Back when I was still going to my trichologist , he told me he should hire me to help him. Back in the days I didnt know as much tho.
What’s your take on topical spironolactone?? I have some but haven’t used it.. a waste a time??
As far as I can remember spironolactone is a prodrug that is mainly effective by being converted into their biological metabolites in the liver. I wouldnt waste time on topical spironolactone

@Seanrutty

Your hair at least is keeping hold for your age. Supposedly, you can improved it with Dutasteride and maybe a hair transplant with a GOOD doctor.

When it’s come to hair loss, ALWAYS trichologist, like 95% of the time.

The genetic test is called Fagron-Trichotest, and they have improved it since its release, adding more cohesive explanation for the results, plus they test some vitamins now too.

If you have Backdoor Pathway issues, Finasteride is not doing anything for that part. Simple.

You need to find a dermatologist/trichologist that he/she can perform it for you.

Yeah, it does check 5AR1, more below (updated version):

DHT testing must be done with the LC-MS method, so you can have the most accurate interpretation of your levels. If I were you, I would do the test for sure, just to have options to tackle the problem.

What’s your exact regimen right now?

Rite now it’s oral min 5mg a day plus topical min foam then rite after more topical min mixed with tren hydrocortisone cream melatonin.. usually miconeeded in.. then 20 mins laser cap with 30 mins scalp messager a good airbag one that’s hands free.. and 1mg oral finasteride three times a week

I would remove hydrocortisone and melatonin. Also, skip microneedling because you are applying minoxidil with Tretinoin, so you don’t need it.

I personally don’t like the idea of melatonin because there is some information that it can lower aromatase.

Spironolactone once a week is so pointless.

As I said, I would try to get the test done, then proceed accordingly.

My story is weird man.. so I’m 41 now but this crazy sh*t happened all the way back in 2005 age 21.. I had a small forehead and thick hair really thick and always had a short fade did the gel look alot.. I noticed what I thought was just the temples thinned even tho to this day I don’t think it was.. back in 2005 there wasn’t a lot on this couldn’t just get info like now but I looked at my moms dad aka my gpa and guys on her side and all had hair loss not bald but pretty bad loss and it’s weird I never really looked at them before as far as there hair but when I did I got on finasteride but within 3 weeks I’ll never forget my sex drive going up to the point I had to jack off or I couldn’t function it was so weird that pulsating feeling then bam tons of hair coming out and I’d look up close and the hair just didn’t come back it was coming out in clumps then in the bath I’ll never forget till this day seeing upper arm hair growth.. still here to this day thick terminal which I shave.. I know it was reflex HYPERANDROGENISITY and it’s real for a fact.. so many years ago I can’t remember how long I was on it but Noway it was more then a few months.. then tried dutasteride but again so long ago I can’t remember why I stopped that.. here I am 20 years later been back on finasteride for 4 months and the question is am I getting reflex again?? The sex drive feeling isn’t there this time that’s weird but still shedding hair.. I’m wondering am I taking finasteride again and low key ruining my hair again or is my hormones much different now at 41 and can tolerate finasteride this time with no reflex.. 4 months in and not stabalized shedding 60 to 120 hairs so not the 400 like in 2005 at 21.. idk….

I see….

Well, if you want to keep taking Finasteride go 1mg daily, not 3 times per week. In that way, you will know that you are taking the drug as intended. Keep minoxidil with Tretinoin, drop the foam (not needed since you are applying the liquid, as long as you know it’s a legit product), drop microneedling, drop hydrocortisone and melatonin, keep oral min 5mg daily. Still, I would suggest to do the test, so you can unlock more treatment options.

Now, if you want Dutasteride: 0.5mg daily (legit capsules/brand!), oral minoxidil 5mg daily, minoxidil with Tretinoin always at night, and just keep the laser therapy as well since you already have it.

Yeah I might go that route my biggest issue reflex hyper since it happens way back with finasteride and duts way stronger it could kick off again and f*** my hair.. this hair game is so tricky man.. idk if i should use topical finasteride or topical dutasteride instead to not get reflex again but maybe im not even getting it again now.. theres no test for reflex hyperandorgenisity.. what do you think?? Since I had the issue back when I was 21 will I have it again now?? 4 months doing this and still shedding and weird thing I don’t see talked about much is hair that’s shed.. atleast half of the hairs I shed are thin as f*** at the root tapper and get thick at the top
