Facial Hair Development

Hey guys so this is a question and also a journal if you will. Quick history, my mom and fathers side the men have no problems growing beards and decent ones at that. I've talked to my grandfather, two uncles, and they all claimed to have started getting facial hair in their 20's. Ok now me, I've had no facial hair except chin and moustache up until I'm pretty sure 21 years old. December 2013, I started Finasteride. I decided to let my facial hair grow out because my girlfriend at the time asked me to. I noticed i could almost have a chin strap something that was never visible before. Very patchy however. I never let it grow out long but I'd let it get to a point and then trim it down, around April is when I noticed the limit, what areas are patchy etc. Now present time, I'm not sure if my facial hair has filled in more since then it's hard for me to tell.

Here's the question, we know DHT is involved in the process of growing facial hair. What will Finasteride then do to "developing" hair, not pre-existing. I've read about every thread out there on this subject and nobody seems to actually have an answer or proof, I've yet to even read posts of somebody with non-facial hair developing a beard while on finasteride. I am hoping not, people with beards will tell you finasteride doesn't stop the beard from growing, it's already there at the very least it grows slower some report. I don't want to mess with my facial hair development and I'm debating on stopping Finasteride in hopes that my facial hair will develop at it's natural pace. However if all finasteride is doing is "slowing" the hair from growing, then that would be fine. It's the terminal hairs that matter and if finasteride effects that you could end up with a patchy face for good.

So for now I'm still taking it so this will be a progress thread. In all honesty I would rather have a nice beard then my hair, or in my case my temples.
I'll take pictures of my beard after in better lighting,

my dads hair and beard are fine, everybody seems to recede in their temples but not until their older, both of my uncles still have barley receded in their temples meanwhile I'm an advanced NW2. My dad can grow a very thickbeard neck and all. I swear my hairline has gotten worse this past year on finasteride to. Patchy beard, ****ty hairline, I've noticed this past year that girls don't even look at me the same anymore. I don't have the features to pull of a shaved head, maybe if I had a decent beard. Sucks man.

Yeah.. I'm so on the fence about stopping finasteride. I don't watch a patchy face my whole life when my dad and rest of my family have nice *** beards. I haven't seen any improvement these last 11 months in my hair either if anything it looks like my temples have receded more but I can't confirm that.
