wether or not you have any facial hair the more you shave it the thicker it will grow over time.

Actually this is not at all true. Old wives tale.

When hair is cut with a razor, the tip becomes squared off. This makes the new growth feel stubbly or "thicker." The new growth feels more coarse because the tip of the hair has a sharp cut edge, rather than a natural tapered.

Ditto on what the Biz said. minoxidil has no effect on DHT. Oral Minoxidil is used to treat high blood pressure. It does this by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily through the body. The way I figure it, topical Minoxidil dialates vessles/capalaries to allow more nutrients into the follicle. This is of course my assumption.

Wouldn't this also allow more circulation of DHT?. If it allows more of the good stuff to get through it's going to allow the bad stuff (DHT) in too, wouldn't it?

That's why I don't beleive products that increase circulation do anything positive for hairloss.....But I'm no Dr. either so what do I know

Intersting point, BHD. But that is perhaps the reason why minoxidil (increased circluation) and Finasteride (lowering DHT) used together show sometimes very good results. I think that is a good combination since you make the follicles grow and protect them at the same time from DHT. This combination makes more sense than spironolactone and Finasteride together.

No one knows exactly how minoxidil works. But it can be used alone to treat male pattern baldness so the growing effect wins over the higher DHT-level in the follicle when the blood circulation is increased.

I am a 23 year old male with the face of a fifteen year old boy.I am unable to grow facial hair. My baby face is affecting people's trust in me,I feel that I am never really taken seriously.I find myself to be mature for my age in height, voice and appearance.

Most of my mates were able grow beards years ago!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm 23 and can't exactly grow much either. Mines mostly just a bit on upper lip, darker hairs mixed with peach fuzz.

Were you late maturing anyway, or is it just the lack of facial hair?
