Hi guys,

I'm fortunate enough that I work in the pharmaceutical industry and have done for the past 4 years. During this time I have come across a number of 'fake' or counterfeit drugs. Usually its drugs like v**** or Cialis but there is growing numbers of fake finasteride on the market. So far I've heard stories of cheap imitations of both Propecia and Finpecia being used.

Has anyone come across these products?

Have they found good information on the differences between the two?

It goes without saying that the 'fake' stuff does NOT contain the right ingredients and can, in fact, be deterimental to your health or might be why your not seeing the results you'd hoped for.

There's a big market out there for this type of thing so watch out!

Any help is appreciated!

a lot of stories about fake finpecia but i have never actually read about even one confirmed report! finestaride is very cheap to make so there wouldn't be any logical reason to fake it. if you look on this site or similar other forums a lot of people have may be assumed they are fake because they were not getting the results they had hoped. also,a lot of users of finpecia or any other finasteride would argue they're real due to the common sides experienced, namely testicular pain.

I think with finasteride you wouldn't have to worry about legitimacy too much. The stuff is generic and very cheap to make. My issue would be about properly handling and expiration.

How would anyone know they came acrossed fakes? Its impossible to know. Just go look at some studies on the percentages of fakes from online pharmacies there was a study sometime recently and its a pretty high percent.

I recently had a patient that bought fake finasteride "from a guy in the gym".

The outside of the packaging looked the same but the inner material on the inside of the box was very different from genuine Propecia and the blister pack was very different.

would imagine it would be more worthwhile faking propecia than other brands such as finpecia or finax which are made in India and cost much much less in comparison!

Make sure they're in blister packs, buy finpecia, find a reputable online pharmacy. The cost of a years supply of Finpecia is about €20 in India, online pharmacies sell it for around €120-€150, no point in faking it.
