Feel lost right now

Hi guys. I'm 18 years old and for the last couple of months I have been really distressed about my hair. I'm a model and it would literally destroy me of I began losing my hair. I really don't want to portray myself as being arrogant or ignorant because I know there you guys may be in worse situations and my heart honestly goes out to you. I feel as if I shouldn't be worrying about this issue at my age, but I honestly can't help it, I feel so low. I am very sorry if I am wasting an of your time by exaggerating, but I would greatly appreciate your opinions and feedback on whether or not I am losing hair at the crown. Is this simply a cowlick or something more serious? My father is 62 and he has balded on the top but not on the sides and back. 2 other uncles are the same, and one has a full head of hair. On my mothers side, my uncles both have a full set of hair, as did my late grandfather. In contrast, I tend to resemble my mother and her family more than my father, I'm not sure whether my chances of hair loss decrease or not. Sorry for the long post, I just feel lost and need some guidance.

I feel you man, I have done some modeling as well. They are a business of the highest standards, and hair loss is unfortunately like a death knell. I would advise you to start foam Minoxidil and S5 cream to keep what you have and maybe get a bit of regrowth. The important thing is that you realized it early. I too first noticed at 18 and did nothing about it until I was 22.

After seeing your photos, your crown is not even close to being bad yet. If you want, use a concealer like Toppik to fill in that small bit of thinning. But seriously, nobody is going to really notice that. Mine is more noticeable because of the swirl-like pattern of the thinning. Hold off on the drugs unless you notice things getting worse but make sure to monitor it closely.

Hi man, thank you for the reply :) Would you say this is normal? When there is no light on it it's barely noticeable, however my light skin shows more scalp due to the exposure to the light and my dark hair. I've had thin hair all my life, especially around the crown, there's always been that swirl at the top. I just pray and hope I'm being a hypochondriac because I could not bare losing my hair. Sorry for the self pity.

Like I said, keep an eye on it for any changes in density. If it starts to thin out more, it is time to hit the drugs. However, most people have crowns like yours if you have a look. Also, eye your hairline closely. If it begins to recede or already has, that is when you should start to worry a bit.

Sounds like you have good genetics on your maternal side. I do as well, but my paternal side is awful. Every single male went NW4 by early thirties. That is where I got screwed.

Your hairlines looking good right now it seems. Keep a very close eye on the 2 corners of your forehead. That was where I first started receding before my top started to diffuse.

Keep a good pic/memorize what it looks like right now so you can compare months later.

I've always had thin hair. I was looking at a picture of when I was 9 years old with my hair short and it spiked up and my scalp was visible, so I'm not sure whether its simply thin hair from genetics.

That hairline is almost perfect. I wouldn't worry about a thing for now.
