Fellow finasteride users - please take my survey!

Hi everyone,

When I first joined these forums I was totally anti-finasteride because of the reported potential side effects. I talked to my doctor about it and he said I could start Propecia and monitor myself closely. If I noticed any side effects I should schedule another appointment with him and take it from there, but he said he has multiple patients using it and they're all very happy with it.

With that said, I'm proud to announce that I finally started Propecia this week I've only been on it for 3 days so I obviously can't report on my progress. However, I'll probably start some progress updates on these forums after around 6 months or so. But anywho, I'd like to ask fellow finasteride users some questions. Oh, and I should probably mention I'm also using Nizoral 2% every 3 days and 5% Rogaine twice daily.

If any finasteride users read this thread, please copy/paste my below questions into a reply and answer them. It's only 7 questions and I think this will give me (and others considering finasteride) a realistic view on what to expect from it:

1. How long have you been consistently using finasteride? And are you stacking other treatments with it?

2. Have you experienced any sides? If so, what are they?

3. Was your crown thinning or balding? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your crown?

4. Were your temples receded? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your temples?

5. Was your mid/frontal hairline thin or bald? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your hairline?

6. Did you have diffuse thinning throughout the scalp? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your diffuse thinning?

7. Overall, are you satisfied with finasteride?


I really appreciate anyone who takes this survey and I can't wait to answer the questions myself in 6-12 months from now!

1. How long have you been consistently using finasteride? And are you stacking other treatments with it?

18 months on Propecia - 1mg daily, Nizoral every three days, copious amounts of alcohol and cigarettes to help supplement my regimen.

2. Have you experienced any sides? If so, what are they?

First few months - watery semen, decreased ejaculate, lower libido. Not a single side since then.

3. Was your crown thinning or balding? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your crown?

Yes. my crown was my problem spot. I've had enough regrowth to hide any sign of thinning once I style my hair, something that was impossible to do before finasteride.

4. Were your temples receded? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your temples?

Temples were never that bad. finasteride has kept me at NW2.

5. Was your mid/frontal hairline thin or bald? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your hairline?

Never had problems in that area.

6. Did you have diffuse thinning throughout the scalp? If so, did finasteride provide any results for your diffuse thinning?

No diffuse thinning.

7. Overall, are you satisfied with finasteride?

Yes, it's a life saver.

And I'd also like to add that I never had a shed.
