what exactly do you mean when you guys say you filled in your temples with minoxidil and finasteride... does that mean that you got your temple to regrow and fixed your hairline or does it mean that you thickened up your temple area?

For me, the minoxidil has done good for me temples. I've regrown a layer of hairs where there weren't any, making a significant diff in appearance. Others have had finasteride work in front, but for me, the front continued getting worse while just on finasteride.

Just give it a try holmes!

How many months after you started the minoxidil until you noticed noticeable regrowth on the temples?

i used 5% for a year and it grew back from no hair to thick nice hair grew back about 1/4 inch now im only 15% and its regrowing 1/2inch and going strong. btw with 15% results were noticeable within a month..maybe just finish off what 5% couldnt do.

I could see subtle improvement at around the 2 month mark, and I'd used 2% minoxidil for the first month (before I got Lee's). I haven't grown back full temples but a little can do a lot. After maybe 3 months, I no longer felt I had to 'style' me hair to hide the bare right temple. There's enough coverage for me to be comfortable with it. The thickening throughout the front also makes the hairline appear stronger.

I've seen continued thickenin' going on in the last 8 or so months. But for me, the most dramatic diff happened by month 5 or so.

Of course, results vary, but try de stuff, AYE?

has anyone had success with propecia in stopping temporal recession. I am thinking of adding minoxidil to the temples where it is thin and receding. But if i have hope of just being able to halt the temporal recession i will not start minoxidil and wait and see if finasteride works for me on that area too. And eventually if it doens't work its going to be minoxidil for me on the temples. :freaked:

In my case, I managed to successfully increase the density and thickness of hair in my temples using minoxidil, therefore improving hairline appearance overall. I also use it directly on frontal hairline as well, so it does a good job of keeping all areas in check, not to mention my crown which is excellently maintained for the past 4 years.

how were your temples when you started applying minoxidil to them? Mine are like bare pretty much except for the short fine hairs. I mean very short, like its slick. And how long did it take you to see results?

If your just looking to maintain, you can probably get away with once a day. But if you want to regrow hair, you should probably apply twice a day.

Theguy is right on. When I first started, my temples were pretty bad. Bad as in one thick hair for every 3 vellous hairs. I started minoxidil at first once a day on the temples, then at the 4 month mark started it twice a day on the temples. Now I think I have mannaged to start maintaining at a little past 50/50 vellous/terminal hairs.
