Finasteride 7 months lost all gains from month 5 and below baseline.

Been taking finasteride for 7 months now, got very nice thickening around 5 months. I've taken so many photos it's ridiculous. Upon comparing photos I've absolutely lost hair in both my vertex and hairline beyond just my gains putting me noticeably below baseline.

I already tolerate lowered libido and less exciting orgasms from finasteride and now it seems I've lost the tradeoff.

Should I bother continuing this **** and tolerate sides for even longer now that I'm actually below baseline?

I also have used Rogaine foam for just over a year and use Nizoral three times a week. I never miss a dose of finasteride ever, and I never miss an application of rogaine.

I feel like I'm doing all I can and I was so happy to think adding finasteride would only help the rogaine. I hadn't lost ground on just the rogaine in 6 months. Now at the 7 month mark of finasteride my hair is worse than it's ever been.

What the **** is going on?

So, you went noticeably above baseline, and then quickly dropped back below? Would you care to share pics? It could be a good thing man. You may just be entering another shedding phase just to regrow it thicker. Perhaps it's working to synchronize the hair cycles. What caliber is the hair you are shedding now? It seems like if it worked to get you above baseline, then it should work in the long haul. Perhaps you may have to adjust dosage.

Same thing is happening with me. Got amazing thickness around 4th month. Losing gains during 5th month now. Maybe another shedding phase.
Does your scalp itch during this period?

No itch since I started nizoral and min over year ago. None with finasteride either.

Libido is also much lower than pre finasteride so I highly doubt it's an unregulated reaction.

rhinestone, didnt you have some serious problems that made you stop finasteride temporarily? that could be why your hair is doing worst.

I had some issues I thought were from finasteride, turned out I had a severe UTI that took Cipro to clear, I never stopped the finasteride due to feeling better a week into the cipro.

Shedding isn't a once and done deal with male pattern baldness, it can happen repeatedly, years into treatment. The first shed may be from telogen effluvium when you begin treatment. The second shed may be because so many of your hair follicles growth cycles have been synchronised so when they do fall, they tend to fall at the same time. If the hairs that you shed look healthy towards the roots then I wouldn't worry.

I'm going to stick it out since I'm already passed 7 months. I'll updated here every couple months.

Well looks like it was a good thing. Huge regrowth incoming, checked under bright light today and all the hairs are coming back in and then some. Honestly shocking that it looks like I'm going back to a solid nw2 from a 2.5.

finasteride has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me too. Been on it for 2 years now, it seems to have stabilised as of ~6 months ago. I'm slightly above baseline.

Awesome. Can't imagine how good that must feel. I'd be walking on clouds.
