finasteride dosing

My first 13 months on finasteride yielded no results, then the next 5 months everything seemed to stop and in the past month I seem to be in remission and everything has picked right back up. I've been taking 1/4 proscar pills. Should I start taking them every other day, to see what happens or should I just give up on the stuff?
Also, I noticed that it seems like the worse my hair loss is the more pimples I find on my head. I was finding a ton of them in the first 13 months, then they seemed start going away and now there back. Anyone else have this happen?

Define "no results". If you took a photograph of yourself then and one of you now, would there be noticeable density loss or recession over the 13 month period? If you look basically the same, then you've had results. Propecia is primarily a maintenance treatment.

Neither. Skipping days is the weirdest theory I've heard in the hair loss world. It will serve no purpose. The dose you're on is higher than necessary, so I can't logically suggest that you lower your dosage for better results. Are you using Nizoral? Do you have *any* scalp irritation at all? If you do, that can be the very reason its not working.

With hair loss treatments, if you are on clinically proven ones, you don't stop the current one if its not doing the job. You always *add to* it. Maintain the finasteride, make sure you're using Nizoral every 3 days religiously with or without irritation, and decide what you want to add. Logically the best thing to add is Rogaine 5% once daily application.

Give it 8 months, and start taking photos of your hair. Id say 80% of the time we think we're worse off than we were a year ago, a photo will put us right in our place and remind us of reality.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Unfortuneately I dont have any photos to show results or lack there off, but trust me I pay alot of attention to this and It's definately gotten worse. Luckily my hairline has maintained fairly well, however I am a diffuse thinner and this is where the problem lies. My hair density just seems to be shriveling up. I have noticed velus hairs at my hairline. I took a hair from my High school baseball hat and compared it to a recent hair, and they appear to be the same size. But like i said my coverage is definately getting worse especially in the front vertex (where the velus hairs are).
I have made several attempts to add to my regimen but with no success.
I have used nizoral in the past, but it made the irritation worse for me. I have tried minoxidil and folligen but I had a reaction to the PPG and had to go on a special shampoo (loprox) to get rid of the irritation. Once the irritation went away I started using Xandrox, and it was messy and I didnt see any results so I quit. I also used tricomin for a little while, I liked it but didnt seem to be helping anything especially for the money. Is there anything else I should try?
