hey guys I am a norwood 2, at the moment, and 23 years old. albeit the top of my head is still thick ( temples thinned out a lot) but what worries me is that my temple triangles have thinned and my sides have thinned a LOT - ( someone says it might be retrograde alopecia?- and is a more aggressive male pattern baldness :/) any ways I am now 2 months on finasteride.. thankfully no sides as of yet

My question is how long do you think I can aim to expect to maintain my hair on finasteride, on AVERAGE- I understand everyone differs to medication etc. but generally what is the consensus purely for maintaining hair.. because tbh if it is anything less than 2 years what is the point..
I ask this to put my mind at ease and trying to remain fairly optimistic in thinking that if I hold off for a few years better treatment is on the horizon ( even though thats what millions of people in the past have probably said haha)

There is no definitive answer, but asuming you respond to the drug I would expect you to maintain for a minimum of 5 years.

In the studies most people were still above baseline after 5 years.

Ive been on it 8 years and still going strong, there are plenty of users on here at 10 years +.

Its not like the drug will suddenly stop working, it may just not be as effective over time. In theory you would always be in a better position than if you had never used it.

If you get good results, forever. Hairloss will always be slowed down significantly regardless. If you get minor or moderate results you may fall below baseline after 5, 10, 15 years. I believe half of people will still be at or above baseline after 10 years

At first ZZZZZ I said my thanks in one of my post because you introduced alldaychemist to me for buy finasteride and it was the cheapest one and good service , I'd appreciate your help to forum guys , I have a question if anyone knows the answer ? I've searched a lot to find out which one of Minoxidil or finasteride makes more hair regrowth ? actually
I haven't find any clear answer for that . does anyone know the answer based on comparison of two studies hair count ? please let me know about that.

minoxidil probably gives better regrowth, but finasteride will stop the underlying cause of hairloss. If someone took finasteride only they would not get nearly as much regrowth as a finasteride+min combo. There are probably studies out there which measure hair count changes from baseline 6 months after starting minoxidil. I know there are such studies for finasteride, if you want to know the exact answer I would look into it

Thanks ZZZZZ for your very quick answer , I sent the reply but seems it hasn't gone because of some internet issue , Btw , I have searched before also for those result but I couldn't find something useful , and thanks for your concern for searching about that . I also
think to add RU in my regimen , I know you have used that ,
1-what do you think about a case of REGROWTH of that?
2- I know you mentioned powder choice is better than premixed in some other thread , anyhow do you think its a good idea if I want to
buy premix and add that to my regimen ? I like to get faster and better result for my hairline .
and again thanks for your helping to all of members here and I'm glad you have good result with your regimen since I saw your pics.

To the post above I don't feel like I know enough to answer those questions accurately. Have you tried finasteride? I don't see why you would want to start RU without trying an oral AA first

I would just start with finasteride and minoxidil, be patient, be persistent and disciplined with your regimen, then if after a year you dont see the results youre looking for, start RU

you could continue to lose hair at a very slow rate or you could maintain forever. There is a wide range when it comes to quality of results. I would expect to maintain for 5 or 10 years + though
