finasteride for temple/corner regrowth?

What's regrowth success like with temple/corners on finasteride? I started 2 months ago and it's already helping my crown but one of my temples/corners needs some help.

I've already been using minoxidil for 2 years so not sure if I maxed that's effectiveness or the finasteride will make it more effective. Fingers crossed

There is always that CHANCE of getting regrowth on temples and corners of hairline but chances are low. And by "temples" i mean the area right above the sideburns, not the top corner of your hairline. Most people on finasteride just maintain what they have or significantly slow down hairloss. Getting regrowth, especially at the temples and hairline corners is considered lucky and doesn't usually happen.

Sportfan12, you sound in the same position I was 4 months ago. I was a 2 year Min user that had pretty decent results on the temples as a standalone treatment. My problem was that growth might had maxed out after 2 years, or it seemed that way.
I also started thinning further and further up the hair line. I introduced finasteride 4 months ago and it really has made a huge impact. Ive gone from a Norwood.2.5 to a Norwood.1.5.

I'm just on finasteride for 4 months and getting vellus hairs all over the hairline if that helps, like in a prominent U shape from the middle to the corners. Starting to see them more now so hopefully head back to Norwood 2. Not on minoxidil.

You often get vellus hair where you previously had hair. I have vellus hair from where my juvenile hairline used to be. But these hair will not go terminal.

That's correct; vellus doesn't necessarily go to terminal, in fact some say both are distinct. The ones near my juvenile hairline are true vellus hairs and I can't see them becoming terminal. There are tons of these and I don't include those in my analysis. However, the ones around my hairline and up to a cm below are a little different so time will tell. They are becoming a little more noticeable every month and developing some colour. Also growing. I think these are intermediate and I expect them to continue getting better. Takes a while for the follicle to heal fully.

Is 1 year on finasteride the minimum before looking at hair transplant? My only thing Is I'm 25 and should I choose to conceive around 30 of my early 30's, I would probably get off finasteride and I don't know how well that would bode after having hair transplant. Not sure how long I would have to be off it to be safe when conceiving but I would obviously hop back on right after

The chance of fully healing follicles which had already been effected to some degree by male pattern baldness is unlikely. I don't think you should expect them to become terminal, sorry.

I would however, love mine to become terminal but they haven't and I have been on finasteride for a year soon and I started as a NW1.

Shows you are not a particular great responder then - probably aggressive pattern. You can't expect everyone to be the same as as you. I'm responding real well to this and it's not placebo.

Mine are miniaturised hairs seen under a microscope so it's not too late. The follicle is not yet dormant. Even if so, will have a small transplant at the front this summer. I already have had some go terminal, just a question of how much regrowth at the front I will get.

I can confirm ive had terminal hair sprout out of what seems like nowhere along the hair line.

Dropping finasteride to conceive is completely unnecessary.

I've deleted my angry message to you Leonardo. However, I will not be responding to you because you are pig headed and aggressive as well as misinformed. Saying I am spreading misinformation for saying regrowth is possible on finasteride and also that 85-90% of type 2 DHT is inhibited by finasteride. You got confused by the term serum. Clearly you are not responding to the medication as well as you like unlike me, yet I wouldn't call out people as liars if it didn't work for me. Yet you are calling me a liar.

Don't take your frustration out on me. You didn't understand what I meant by placebo either and also now you're saying I believe it's easy to get frontal growth

I am also a medic, lets leave it at that but thanks for the lecture man, was very informative. I will be sure to ask for more "bro science" and "personal opinions" from you.

I am in my late 20's and Norwood 2.5, responding well, if you don't believe me that's fine, I couldn't care less. But stop misguiding noobs.

You must be lying according to this guy. He hasn't had growth so none of us can have some apparently.

I actually have no sides since week 2, 4 months in now. Watery semen is minor anyway.

Maybe with the minoxidil you are using liquid? If you don't wipe away the bit that drips or apply it close to bed time, chances are it can spread to your forehead region.

Yes a transplant is on my mind. I might do it in about a year so it can grow back for the following summer. Let finasteride stabilise/grow as much as it can in the mean time. My hairs getting really thick, immovable almost but growth is fluffy at the front. Hoping it starts to go terminal 6-12 months in. Some have but only a few.

I couldn't really tell you were losing much when you kept it short as you're a diffuser with a good hairline. We can all spot these things as we know about male pattern baldness but average guy don't.

Yeh when my hair is short you cant tell at all. Literqlly have asked 15 people or more if my hair looks like im balding and everyone says it looks normal. I hope finasteride does something for me but I've only bee on it for 3 months almost.

I thi nk im overly paranoid and my hairloss isnt that bad yet. Even in water lol. I would be happy if finasteride stabilized my hair loss.
But yeh

Exactly. Plus why do you need a hair transplant anyway? What are you looking to fill in? Your hairline is a strong Norwood 2 right? Let's see how we do at the 6 month and 12 month one!

Sorry for bringing out an old post, but Wolf Pack, I had to ask..... "miniaturized under a microscope" means it isn't too late?
How did it turn out?

Anyone else with inputs on "miniaturized to almost nothing but not quite vellus yet" hair?
I've been on finasteride a year, and my miniaturized hir are still miniaturized. Lost some on one side, but that may just be me. I'm hoping for thickening over a year or two more

What's it like to have watery semen :S? Does it not make you want to get off everything?

No sides for me. Read it again, was quoting someone who had watery sides themselves! finasteride is effective, wow coming up to 3 years use next month, no hair loss to report. Thickening of existing hair and some new growth for sure. Full head. But it won't grow hair on slick areas no matter how good you respond, transplant needed. Even Minoxidil can't grow on very dead areas 9 outta 10 times.

My expierience till now is, that the hair that's gone at firsr comes back the slowest. It's falling and coming back stronger with each cycle but you need time. I think there might be a point of no return regarding of min and finasteride but if one starts early enough there's a big chance of getting everything back.
