24 Years old. Been on finasteride for almost 3 years. I caught my hairloss early so I think it's done a decent enough job for me thus far but I've been slowly thinning over roughly the past year and a half. Most people wouldn't notice I had any loss at all. In fact, I get a lot of compliments on my hair. I want to do what I can to make sure it stays that way. I've attached some pictures of my hair both wet and dry that illustrate where I'm starting to lose. I can hide it relatively easily but I think it might be time for me to hop in minoxidil. I, like many others am afraid of the potential shed. I'm thinking I might use toppik during the early minoxidil months if I do in fact decide to hop on. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Call me crazy but I don't see any hair loss? Maybe just like a NW1.5 hairline?

If you feel like you're losing, add in minoxidil. Only you know your hair the best.

For the love of God don't use a concealer it would just be a waste of time and money with your hair.

Appreciate the reply. It's not completely noticeable right now, but I'm definitely losing some density. Shedding miniaturized hairs. I think it's best illustrated in the vertex pic with wet hair. It was tough getting great pictures. The hairline isn't bad. Left temple is definitely thinning. This is why I'm on the fence about minoxidil. I could wait a while and see what happens and I would only use toppik if the minoxidil caused a noticeable shed. Maybe I should wait at least a few months before deciding to start minoxidil? Maybe adding nizoral a couple days a week would be the way to go for now?

I wouldn't say I'm a NW0. Probably a 1.5 on the left. Still about a 1 on the right. I haven't lost much at the hairline, so I'm happy about that. The problem for me isn't so much recession but thinning in various places. It might be hard to see, but I'm definitely starting to thin at the left temple. Where I've noticed the biggest loss of density is the vertex and crown. I'd most likely use minoxidil on the left temple as well as the vertex and crown. I'm still not totally sure that I want to use it at all though because although I've been thinning, it's been happening pretty slowly. Like I said, most people wouldn't even think I'm losing and any loss is relatively easy to hide. Maybe I should just add nizoral a couple times a week and go from there? Hoping that I can stay around where I"m at until a better treatment comes out.

In terms of finasteride sides, I had a little ball ache and watery semen for a few weeks when I started back in 2015 but they went away relatively quickly!

Is it just me or do some people panic, and think they have hair loss and have to take all these preventive measured when there is actually no hair loss at all? I'm not judging dude, and you know yourself better than me but if my hair looked like that, I would just go on living my life until I have hair loss to worry about.

I know it doesn't look bad relative to a lot of other posters, but I'm trying to be proactive. I definitely shed miniaturized hair daily. The dermatologist who prescribed me finasteride was pretty blatantly calling it male pattern baldness. My dad is totally bald, his brother has thinned pretty severely and my mom's dad was pretty bald. At least a NW4. That being said, her brothers still has quite a bit of their hair. Where I'm seeing it the most is not anywhere with recession, but overall thinning and loss of density. I do appreciate the honesty though. Maybe I'll hold out for a few more months and reassess. It's definitely possible I'm driving myself crazy. Another possibility is that I didn't take great pictures. Like I said, just trying to be proactive, but maybe it's a little early to jump on minoxidil?

Update here. I Really think this is starting to get to the point where I should add minoxidil. I'm afraid of the shed, but it's not looking great at the moment. I think I will use the foam and try only once a day. My quesiton is does this even look like normal shedding? It's way more prominent on the left side of my head as well as the left side of my crown. Possibly this is just a shed? What do you all think?
