Finasteride no longer popular?

Hey all,
Just wondering what the latest scoop is on Finasteride as a hair loss treatment. It seems that Merck has taken down Propecia's website. It is also a little harder to find supporters of it on these forums compared to a few years ago. Whats the scoop?

finasteride/dutasteride is still the best we have. Merck will no longer be pushing finasteride like they used to because their patent expired

It was never popular. Only 7% of hair loss sufferers in the UK go to Minoxidil/finasteride for treatment! Transplant was top, followed by shave. Combovers were higher than minoxidil/finasteride. Hat was near the bottom. Saw this in a newspaper a while ago.

I know people are thinking how can you have a transplant without medication, but people must do. Even rooney didn't take Propecia till he began losing hair behind the transplant. Fact is, people hate life time pills. I love it as long as my body can tolerate it.

Finasteride was first marketed for BPH because Merck knew that would make more money - it did as well. For male pattern baldness the amount sold is much less.

Yeah a lot of men dont bother doing anything because they dont know about it or more likely its not worth the money/danger/hassle of using it for life. Also throwing in there that long term you will probably slowly bald even on it so is it worth it? I can see why a lot of guys say no its not. finasteride though is certainly the best there is.
