Been on it for two and a half weeks. So far, I don't really notice anything. I know two weeks is too soon to make a statement, but I was hoping by now at least my scalp would stop itching. No significant sides so far (which is great). I still shed daily as I normally do, but maybe just a little bit less than on average (I hope this is a sign that it's working). As I mentioned above, my scalp still itches. Does that mean there's still alot of DHT circulating?? I also use Nizoral once or twice a week which I've been doing for over a year. I don't think it's doing a damn thing so I will knock Nizoral out of my regimen after I run out.

stick wit nizoral 2 times week leave in ur hair during shower for 10 min and you wont notice any propecia results gaining wise till 6 months. my advice to you is stick with it even tho you don't think nizoral is helping.

Definitely stick with the anti-inflammatory shampoo (Nizoral or T-Gel). There is a reason that the clinical trials for Propecia were conducted with T-Gel.

Was it T-Gel? I thought the clinical trials for Propecial were conducted with nizoral.

nope. T-Gel. although they excluded ketaconazole (nizoral) shampoos from the dutasteride hair loss trials, which makes me think, that they might think it's effective in hair loss and therefore skew the results.

Okay, it's been about a month since being on Propecia so I thought I'd give a little update. Recently I've been shedding more than normal, but I've had periodic sheds like this way before I ever started on Propecia so I will not blame the drug for this. My scalp still itches like crazy, but then again the past few years I've had scalp itch. These things tell me that the drug is having no noticeable effect yet. I was hoping by now I'd have a reduction in both scalp itch and daily shedding. I plan to stay on the drug for at least a year before determining if I should stick with it or not. The only good news is that I haven't experienced any side effects. Will keep you guys posted.....

I'm closing in on 3 months...sounds like you and I are on the same boat. While my itching is far less than before Propecia, I too noticed a slight decrease in shedding initially, but it has jumped back up to pre-Propecia levels. Scalp does feel less oily...but otherwise, no noticeable positive effects.

Kinda sucks I havent had the total cessation of shedding that other people talk about....I have had some sexual sides too.

don't worry. the placebo group had the same shampoo as the test group.

Been on for two months so far.....nada.

Been shedding alot, but as I've said before, I've always had periods of excess shedding so I shouldn't blame the finasteride for this. Scalp is still VERY itchy (as much as it was before starting Propecia). Damn, when is this stuff gonna kick in???? At least there's no side effects. I'm almost running out of Nizoral (this stuff has been totally useless to me) and I'm going to switch to T-Gel.

So it's been a little over 4 months....

Still nothing yet. The only good news is that I haven't experienced any side effects. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed my shedding was starting to decrease, but the past couple of days I started to shed a little more. Scalp is still very itchy, even though I am currently using T-Gel twice a week (used to be on Nizoral 2x a week, but never noticed a difference so I switched). I'm really getting discouraged with these so-called anti-dandruff/anti-scalp itch shampoos. My dandruff returns 1-2 days after using these shampoos and my scalp itches as badly as it did before I started using these shampoos. And the Nizoral never even came close to preventing hair loss or regrowing hair. Once I use up the T-Gel, I will discontinue the use of any anti-dandruff/anti-imflammatory shampoos. I will continue using the Propecia for the full 12 months before making a decision, but so far I am not the least bit impressed......

You need to be a good responder to achieve a relatively good cosmetic improvement.
