Im making short paragraphs to make it easy to read. Plz read it !!

Ok. So finasteride has destroyed my hair :(

The story :

I experienced crown hairloss in November 2018.
I have genetically a very strong, thick and low hairline. But my crown was destined to be fcked.

so i went to a dermatologist and she prescribed finasteride. I started from first week of December 2018 and stayed on it till end of April. 0 side effects.

here’s the crazy regrowth it gave me in just 5 months, i almost forgot that i had hairloss. (note that i am under bright lights in both pics) :

https://ibb.co/sFgBDLQ

Then my mother’s dermatologist scared her of the sexual side effects of the drug and she took me off of it. So i tapered off of it in next 15-16 days. (Foolish me for not making my own research)

4 months off of it and i experienced loss again and as soon as i noticed i panicked and jumped back on it in last week of August 2019.

This time from my 3rd dose of Finasteride... my hair became lifeless and massive... i mean a huuuge shed started all over my head including sides (not much from back). I looked it up and thought it is the finasteride shed that many others are going though or have gone through.

Success stories backed my persistence and i foolishly kept on taking it cuz i refused to believe that a drug supposed to save your hair can destroy it.

shed stopped progressing after 2 months in which i lost 40-50% of my hair. I didn’t recover and then another shed came in 5th month.

The shed came with some symptoms as well :

-Itchy/tingly scalp
-increased body hair growth
-i also experienced prostate sensations/pain 3-4 times in the first 3 months.

I always had oily skin so i dunno if that increased. No Acne though.

searching it up, Reflex Hyperandrogenicity scared the piss out of me. But i guess thats what i have.

I went to a renowned endocrinologist here after 5 months on finasteride and he asked me for some blood tests after a 1 month course of the vitamins he has prescribed. But he asked me to drop finasteride first.

i tapered off finasteride and now it has been 18 days that im off of it and taking his vitamins. My blood tests are due in first week of March

Im still shedding and scalp is still itchy and tingly (although it has reduced somewhat now since i am off of it)

I desperately need suggestions on what should i do ?

plz don’t ask me to post my pics. I can’t bear the pain it causes me. I don’t even look in the mirror.

YOU HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT !!!

I have started PRP sessions 3 days ago.
Im also gonna place an order for RU58841 and Rogaine (minoxidil) soon. I am also thinking of adding nizoral after Regenepure DR has not done much good.

what else can i do guys plz help me !!!!:(:(

And yeah, i should have been on this forum back then so i could know what i had to do so i would have kept taking it against her will even. Only if i knew.

Do you have a unusual high libido?
That combined with itchy scalp have always been the biggest telltale of reflex hyperandrogenecity for me.
I would wait for the blood test.
But ultimately, you would be needing to go back on treatment in order to save your hair.
finasteride + RU should be a good starting point, just remember to STAY on the finasteride this time.

well my libido was always either normal or below normal while i was on Finasteride. It was not unusually high. But scalp was very itchy and tingly on it.

but since coming off of finasteride my libido has increased. I would say just like the old days. Between normal and high. Also my scalp tingling and itching has gone down considerably these 25 days after dropping finasteride. I would say 70% down at least.

but its just an odd tickling/touching sort of a sensation that i have in hair/follicles which is really new. Its not painful, itchy or tingly but just a feeling like something’s constantly touching my hair/follicles. Especially on the crown.

i have a separate thread made on this as well.

and as of now i am off of finasteride.
I am only considering Rogaine, RU58841 and Zix all combined. Im also having PRP sessions.

maybe i will give finasteride another go sometime in the future

I think you’ll be hard pressed to get much advice on here without showing pictures of your current hair loss situation especially considering that you’ve quantified your hair loss as 40-50% in two months and this was before another massive shed. So does this mean you’re saying you’ve lost more than 70% of your hair in 5 months??!!

You’re new to the forum so I’ll let you know that this isn’t the most trusting community of people and a good number of guys here are downright cynical or paranoid. Or both. I totally understand you not wanting to post pictures but if you are going to make such incredible claims and then ask for advice I think most people are going to want you to prove what you’re saying with some sort of pictorial evidence before weighing in. You’d be surprised how many people claim to have lost 50% of their hair and then post pictures of a hair loss situation which shows virtually no hair loss.

This was 6 months ago. Just a day before starting finasteride. I only had mild crown thinning at the time. Look at the rest of my hair. Absolutely perfect.

And this is the situation after 6 months. I know they are shorter and my hairline is still intact cuz i always had strong hairline NW0.

but look at them now. So lifeless. you gotta see the condition of my hair. They are almost “hollow”.
i can see through my scalp in bright light. That how much i have lost.

I didn’t say 70%. I lost 50% in these 5 months. The shedding stabilized after first 3 months but returned to progress in the 5th month. Then i quit almost 26 days ago. Im still shedding.

the only good thing uptil now has been the significant reduction in the itching and tingling. But its not completely over yeh either.

Hey Slid. How is Oral Minoxidil doing for you ?
Not much. Some report great regrowth others dont.If have a low blood pressure dont try it.And stop listening to your mother for gods sake, you are old enough to do what you want with your body.

As far as i have seen. My symptoms and condition very much coincides with @CrownBalding @kungfukenny @Matt Rogers @giannis @Maxima

and as far as my biggest nightmare is concerned is the permanent acceleration of this loss which happened to @buckthorn however he is banned i guess.

It’s not as bad as you made it seem but I see the difference along the hairline. You should be thankful that you were only on for 5 months. I stayed on for 17 months and my hair is in horrible shape. I’m now on dutasteride and it’s worse than ever. Paper thin density which used to be corse and thick. Like an idiot I doubled down on AAs because I listened to people on this forum repeatedly tell me to stick with my treatment. Listen to your gut. I wish I had. I would do anything to have the hair I had 6 months after starting finasteride. I’m sure I may have continued to lose ground but not at the rate I did.

This is what 20 months on AAs have done to me. And everything behind the hairline is sparse individual hairs hanging on for dear life. Diffused and paper thin 4 inches beyond the hairline. f*****g great.

And that is 2018 wet hair vs 2020 dry hair. If I posted a current wet hair picture you’d see that it’s exponentially worse.
