been a while since i posted and have come back for some help!

been on finasteride (0.5mg) for around 18 months, along with nizoral EOD. started with slight recession in hairline and a full head of hair otherwise, just started using to halt any further loss.

have just ordered another 56 pills from inhouse

but have been noticing for a while, just an overall thinning of my hair

noticed after first starting my sides and back were thinner, an area that should be affected by male pattern baldness and now the top of my head is getting thin, visible scalp. plus hairline which had receded but wasnt really finasteride or too bad has gotten very thin also

after reading a few posts, is it possible im hyperandrogenic or experiencing hyperandrogenicty (dont know correct term!), that an excess of tesosterone is causing me to lose hair that i shouldnt?

based on this, which has happened to a few who have quit and regained what they had lost, if i quit could i expect similar results?

just seems that im coming up to 2 years with no noticeable results or halting of it, and that perhaps ive made things worse and i have a better shot at just quitting!

You should use 1 mg finasteride a day. According to the drugs half life and the minimum effective dose - 0.05 mg, you have some hours a day with less protection, when you're using 0.5 mg finasteride a day.

1 mg (mg - hours)

0.5 - 6
0.25 - 12
0.125 - 18
0.0625 - 24

0.5 mg (mg - hours)

0.25 - 6
0.125 - 12
0.0625 - 18

0.03125 - 24

I have read different, the studies I have read say .5 and 1 are very close to the same if not same results. If .5 isn't working though, then 1 might be the way to go, if it isn't screwing with your health. That post finasteride syndrome thing is concerning...

The end result revealed that 1 mg finasteride was superior to 0.5- and 0.2 mg. It must be due to the drugs half life. All the doses supresses equal amounts of 5AR type 2 enzymes, but only 1 mg supresses them efficiently for 24 hours. 18 hours for 0.5 mg. 12 hours for 0.25 mg.

0.25 mg twice a day - 12 hours a part, should give the same result as 1 mg a day.

Is this accurate? I'd love to go down to 0.5 mg.
Theoretically, yes;

0.25 mg (mg - hours)
0.125 - 6
0.0625 - 12

0.03125 - 18
0.015625 - 24
