finasteride Users: Do you live in constant FEAR that something may go wrong?

Not trying to bring out any negative talk or scare anyone or anything, I've just been wondering if most finasteride users find that they are more relaxed and happy on finasteride (due to dealing with hair loss), or that they are more paranoid and living in constant fear with the thought that something may go wrong eventually (feeling of impending doom, anxiety, finasteride is going to stop working, hormone crash, sudden onset of sides, etc) ?

I'm still weighing pros and cons, and I'm a little worried that when I start taking finasteride i will not be able to stop fearing that one day things may go downhill from taking it. That fear of constant worry is something to consider, I think.

A couple people have mentioned this "hormone crash", could someone explain exactly what this is, and its credibility and likelihood? Apparently it has happened to a few people randomly after months-years of 0 sides.

Hmmm... .01% Chance of permanent sides or go bald.

Wasn't hard for me to choose. No sides here at month 5.

I'm rarely ever here these days (I check back monthly or so to check for requests and PM's from folks), but here is my honest opinion as someone who has used it for a fairly material amount of time: the drug is quite unremarkable. It won't turn you into an individual with a castrate level libido, nor will it lead to severe gynecomastia. After a few weeks of taking the drug, it simply blends in to your daily routine and you stop thinking about it. Given that the odds of side effects are pegged at 2% (let's say 5% just to be liberal), and the odds of developing those effects permanently are 1% of even that, it would be an outlier for the individual who has prolonged side effects.

It's a tremendous drug for combating the progression of hairloss as well as somewhat reversing the miniaturization process. My only advice to you would be to take your best judgment and decide whether you want to take the drug. Your odds of developing persistent side effects are .01%, your odds of maintaining to moderately regrowing hair are at 86% over 10 years and counting, and your odds of continuing to lose hair without it are >90% most likely. It's much easier to maintain hair than is to regrow once it is completely gone, so it would definitely be important to start as early as possible if indeed you are looking to begin these therapeutic measures.

I live in constant fear that finasteride will stop working and I'll start going bald again.

My biggest fear with finasteride is that I would be one of those, what is .00000001%, that rapidly starts to lose hair on it... and BAM!! Nightmare come true!!

nah I don't worry about the sides at all, but being on finasteride has made me forget about my hairloss for the most part because I know most of what can be done is being done and there isn't jack sh!t else I can do about it.

My biggest regret and unforeseeable fear was not taking this drug sooner. Getting off, then getting back on because I fealt like I was still at the same base line prior to treatment. it became rapidly evident, that wasn't the case when I buzzed my hair short and noticed how much hair I was actually loosing.

Your irrational fears are subject to setting yourself up for failure both physically, and mentally. The type of person who will meet a women, and start rationalizing and over thinking whether he will be able to perform because he's on finasteride. When you are not able to maintain erection, automatically blame finasteride like most.

Get your head straight. This drug won't cause any hormonal crash. Iv'e taking steroids, and came off with no post cycle drugs, and still managed to reach natural levels, and restore my hormones. Reaching a point where my testosterone was completely shutdown, and estrogen jacked up. Their were plenty of side effects, but my body eventually recovered, it's called homeostasis. Finasteride, cmon man. Let's be real here, it ain't cause any hormonal imbalance that's noticible.

me too dude, did a 12 week cycle of 500mg test and came off without any PCT. If I can recover from that I am confident in my ability to recover from finasteride should the unlikely event occur that i suffer any serious sides.

We all went through the same thing when reading the horror stories.

I started like 5 or 6 weeks ago. Felt better because now I am actually doing something about stopping my hairloss. Feel a bit uneasy about ****ing with my hormones and having to take a 'hair pill' everyday to keep my hair. I'm sure that feeling will go away.

So a bit of both I guess. But so far, happy I started.

Do you think it's really that rare? This is my only worry about getting on the drug.

Like a lot of people I was scared at first to take it cause I was scared of the sides. But I've been on it about a month with no real problems. The was I see it is this, if I get any sides I can't deal with I'll just quit. Simple.
