Finasteride working?

I've been on Minoxidil 5% for over 12 years with no notable results (other than the possibility that it could have been worse without it).
Since the beginning of year, I've started Finasteride 1mg per day, plus the occasional derma-rolling when I have the time/patience.
What can be seen on the photos is the 'fluff' in the diffuse thinning temples which had always been there, but I'm really beginning to think the fluff is becoming more visible, although they don't seem to grow any longer than this (or if they did grow, the growth rate is much slower than the existing hair)....the fluff really needs to grow to at least 1.5cm to be visible against my long hair style.
Has anyone had a similar experience? My understanding is Finasteride is only effective for thickening the crown with exiting strands so this could well be my wishful thinking...

Any thoughts?

Interesting! Thank you both for your views so far. It is reassuring to know I'm hopefully not seeing placebo effect...
I guess now and the next 6 months or so (3-4months into it) is when I'm likely to see the maximum benefit then?
I will stick to realistic expectations and continue to use 1mg tablets, and intend to continue for as long as I can and hope for the best.
If the benefit doesn't become much more visible than this, I guess I'll get back to the hair transplant idea.

It aint easy to see from these pics alone, kid. I would suggest getting on growth stimulants like minoxidil if you're lookin for regrowth. Propecia alone is not that reliable for regrowth, but it should stop it progressin.

Thanks. I've been on minoxidil for over 12 years (as mentioned on original post). This in conjunction with Finasteride plus derma-rolling...
I can't think of any rational additional treatment at this stage.
It's incredibly difficult to capture the 'fluff' without zooming right in, which doesn't show contrast with the fully-growing hair...I'll try another angle next time.
