Fincar legitimacy - has anyone tasted the pill O_o...

Well it might seem strange to some of you while an everyday thought to others, but yesterday it ran through my mind that my Fincar pills, made by Cipla and bought from alldaychemist.com might be fake. I did a couple of things to verify my doubts:

1. I wrote an email to Cipla's customer support with a question how to distinguish the legit from the fake. Btw, they don't even list Fincar in their products page, which is strange by itself and to which I turned their attention in my message. I will update you with their answer, some of you might be interested to know it.

2. I crushed a pill and tasted it directly with my tongue. Well, it seemed like ... chalk! Has anyone tasted fincar or finpecia that is legit and knows what does this stuff taste like?

3. I googled images of the Fincar blisters. All the results returned different blister outlook than the one those blisters that were sent to me by alldaychemist.com have. Do you have an idea if the legit Fincar blisters have a red vertical stripe on their left side? Do you know what would be a legit Fincar production address be? Mine is sth like "kumrek, rangpo sikkim 737132" of sorts...

I cannot run a chemistry test on my pills for the moment, that is why I have indulged into such "strange" investigation. Sorry to bother you, but any help or hint will be taken appreciatively :bravo:

No form of finasteride is sold in a physical pharmacy around here. Besides, the mere fact it is sold by physicians doesn't mean it's legitimacy is guaranteed..

How about buying the real stuff and doing a taste
comparison? I don't think tasting it is going to tell
you much but maybe it will satisfy your doubts.

I don't want to sound like a shill for inhouse and united but
I think based on my results I've gotten legit finasteride from them.

I read a report saying even 10% of stuff from physicians is fake, compared to 50% of stuff from web sites.

I have the same Cipla Fincar from Inhouse. Just for kicks I took a half a pill and let it dissolve in my mouth. It does have a slight chalky consistency as it melts in your mouth and also has a slight bitterness to it. Definitely not a sugar pill. I have been on it for about four months seen some very mild shedding but still too early to tell if it will be effective.

I don't think there's any reason to doubt the legitimacy of Fincar/Finpecia, especially from Inhouse/United.

I bought v**** from inhouse as an, ahem, experiment, and it worked great and v**** is a major cash crop of a drug - so there's actually an incentive to counterfeit it (as opposed to a relative niche drug like Fincar!)

It was actually a generic version as well, made in India.

Thanks, guys, for the replies.

I don't question the legitimacy of united's finasteride (in any form) or Cipla's generics. My point is that it is possible for alldaychemist.com to make fake drugs and put a "cipla" brand on them (making fakes of the generics in some way). The reason I doubt their legitimacy is their price - $3.87 for 10 (ten!) pills of fincar - if that is not a bargain, boy what is it... The package I received looks like the one I got from GHDrugs.com a couple of months ago, but considering the price it is normal to question the legitimacy of the drug. Not to mention that GHDrugs legitimacy is also a subject of doubt - the mere fact that they no longer exist speaks for itself..

And btw I haven't received an answer from Cipla about a possible way to determine the legitimacy of the products wearing their brand.

I wouldn't let that cheap price worry you. I think they black it out now, but the retail price is stamped on the blister pack in Indian Rupees and is the equivalent of a couple of US dollars at most. That stuff cost pennies to manufacture which is why it isn't even worth faking when you can get the real deal in bulk insanely cheap and turn a hefty profit that way. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were turning a couple hundred percent profit selling it at $3.87 for 10. You can go to the Walmart pharmacy and get generics for $4 so what's the difference?

Yeah, may be you are right, I have heard that it is cheap to produce finasteride pills, but I am not into chemistry and that is why I couln't know for sure, no offense.

Then how about the address of manufacture you have on your packages? Is it the same as mine (Kumrek, Rangpo Sikkim 737132) or is it different? I am attaching an actual photo of one of my blisters:

The only blister pack I have left does indicate a different location, but I've noticed at least two different locations printed on the packs I've used in the past. Cipla has more than one factory, so I wouldn't let that bother you either:

As you can see, Sikkim is one of their locations.

Your Fincar is not fake. You're being paranoid.

I agree with this...faking the pill is probably close to the price of making it.

Allright, allright, thanks to all of you guys for quenching my thirst for hearing my pills are not fake. Yup, probably I was overparanoid...

Anyway, the reality is that I am well into 9th month of taking finasteride (with different doses over the months, less quantity in the past, more in the present) and my hair looks worse than ever. I guess only the hope all that shedding means the drugs does its job and I am on the right way. Cross your fingers for me, pals! :hairy:

Have a good time browsing the forum.

Leezer out.

That's true. But even pills made in the US aren't guaranteed to be handled perfectly the entire way from production to your local pharmacy.

I did the same today, following your post. My pill tasted the exact same way, chalky at first, but after a couple of seconds, after leaving it to dissolve completely in my mouth, it got a little bitter taste.

Hey, how long did it take for your product to arrive from alldaychemist? Additionally, did they charge your card within 2-3 days (if you ordered by card)? Just wondering because I ordered from them a week ago and my card hasn't been charged yet. Also, my stuff hasn't even shipped out. I left them messages, but I think I'm going to give them a call if they don't answer back by tomorrow.

Thanks.
