I am 28 years old, Norwood 3, hairline started receding when I was 19 years old. Of note, my scalp becomes extremely itchy, tingling, and sometimes reddish with little red macules after sexual stimulation and ejaculation (almost daily), and I experience more shedding following this in little "blow-out" areas. The itch and tingling subside after a day or two. When I do not ejaculate as often, my scalp becomes calm, no redness, no itch or tingling, and hair feels stronger and even little hairs start to grow back. I am of middle eastern descent and have a lot of body hair as well.
I finally started taking 1mg finasteride today, but I'm not sure what to expect. I have read that having itchy/tingling/inflamed scalp with sexual activity is part of a more aggressive form of androgenic alopecia that may not respond well to propecia. Does anyone have any anecdotal experience similar to mine, for whom finasteride has or has not worked? This has been a hell of a ride as you can imagine, and I would like some peace or a solution. Thank you.
