IMAG0062.jpgIMAG0065.jpg IMAG0063.jpgIMAG0063.jpgIMAG0061.jpg. My hair used to be thicker put its pretty long. I'm 22 Years old and got male pattern baldness on my mother's side of the family, but my grandpa had most of his hairs when he died at 75. My father still has a bunch of hair.

You've got miniaturizing hairs, so yes it's most likely male pattern baldness.

What I would recommend is consulting a GP and getting a referral to a dermatologist for a professional confirmation.
From there you have a few options. Either accept it or get on the treatments we have. The treatments being minoxidil or finasteride. Judging from these photos i'd say finasteride would be more enough.

Looks to be your temples are progressing ever so slowly backward, but you sir must make the decision as to whether or not you wish to pursue the treatments if you are in fact balding. First, talk to a dermatologist that is experienced in male pattern baldness. It's worth the money to know what you're dealing with. If you seek treatment, though, it's a lifelong process at this stage because there aren't any better treatments available than 5AR inhibitors like finasteride and dutasteride combined with minoxidil and ketoconozole.

If you decide to opt for finasteride, you must keep in mind that there is a chance, albeit a very small one that you could damage your health permanently. Most men can take it and have no problem, some experience side effects early on which will later subside and they have no problem in the future, and there is that final group that experience sides and quit. Most of the time you get better, which has (fingers crossed) seemed to happen to me, but there are some that experience PERMANENT, worsening side effects for months, years, or even longer than that. You have to make the decision.

You appear to have miniaturisation of your hairline so I'd say it's very likely male pattern baldness. Jump on finsasteride and nizoral.

Thanks for your reactions. I decided that I will be accepting the inevitable, even tough it wil be hard. It's not worth all the possible side effects from the medications and all the sweat and tears trying to keep it.

According to the study, only 2% of people who take the drug experience sides. Some people argue the percentage is actually higher but i think it's just the vocal minority on the internet.

I experienced sides for 4 months and after a month off, most of them are gone.
I honestly think it's worth trialing the drug for 3 months. If you get sides in the early weeks/months, they'll most likely subside as your body adjusts. If after 3 months they haven't gone and you're not willing to ride it out longer, just quit and you're body will be back to normal within a few weeks to a few months.

I absolutely respect your decision to accept your hair loss. I wish i'd been strong enough to just accept it initially. But don't let people who experienced side effects, like myself, dissuade and scare you from at least trying to keep your hair.

Good luck, brother.

Oh come on, give it a shot, there was a guy here in the forum that something that is really spot on: if anything, you should be worried of getting the sides and not being able to take the medication because of that. So you don't you just try it, the sides are temporary as well in the majority of cases, and even if you get out of the medication you should eventually be fine.

You're messing with hormones so it's perfectly normal, like ssjpotato said, that sides appear and eventually start fading away.

About the numbers, you would have to be extremely unlucky to suffer something from propecia in the long term really.

You'll regret this decision later in life. I guarantee it.

Take it. You won't get sides.

^^ this, it's easy to say when you hardly have loss any hair I'm 19 and when I first noticed at 15 I thought the same and I was like meh my dad seems happy as time progressed and I lost more hair I would just get more and more self conscious and avoid certain social situations like swimming going out on windy days etc.
