hello to all--
first time poster, long time (6 mo) visitor

i have been treating male pattern baldness since July 2003, having first noticed signs of temporal recession in June 2003

from my regimen below, you can see i have been fairly aggressive in treating this awful condition

i began propecia in July as my only treatment, then added Xandrox 5% and 12.5% in October, finally adding spironolactone in late December

for scalp maintenance, i began shampooing w/ nizoral in September and added the T-Gels in December

overall, i think i have a solid line of defense to prevent moving beyond a Norwood 2 (i have always had a high forehead, and thus was probably a Norwood 1-1.5 naturally)

since noticing slight recession in June, things have progressed somewhat rapidly: i was losing 35-40 hairs daily until late November, when use of the Xandrox seems to have triggered a shed, increasing hair loss to 65-80 daily; in addition, there has been ever so slight frontal thinning at the widow's peak; i have no problems at the crown or w/ diffuse thinning, and am able to easily cover up the recession w/ a hairstyle

i have ordered Xandrox15 from Lee as my next weapon, and will begin this within a week; in addition, i am considering adding tricomin/folligen as the final weapon in the arsenal -- i believe that would about as complete an assault on male pattern baldness as possible, giving me an internal anti-androgen, two topical anti-ands (azelaic and spironolactone), regrowth agents (minoxidil), an anti-inflammatory (SODases), and scalp maintenance/anti-inflammatories (shampoos)

comments, questions regarding my regimen, experiences are welcome

Damn, seems like hair maintenance for you is a full time job.

Except for hair transplant surgery, the best you can do is a Rogaine/Propecia combo and some nice shampoo...all the other items you're taking is a waste of time and money.

alex b-

what component of my regimen do you consider to be a waste of time?

i assume your referring to spironolactone or SODases (tricomin, folligen)?

in essence, i use propecia, minoxidil, shampoos, and then spironolactone/SODases, all of which have to some degree or another demonstrated effectiveness in combatting male pattern baldness: both propecia and minoxidil approved by FDA, nizoral/T-Gel contain anti-inflammatory ingredients, spironolactone has been shown in studies cited by Proctor and others to be a very effective topical anti-androgen, and tricomin was involved in an FDA Phase II, where, although sample size was small, it demonstrated effectiveness in (I believe) both halting progression of male pattern baldness and regrowth

elders (Bryan, etc.) please reply and advise regarding my regimen

The other treatments listed are not a waste of time and money. Spend 20 minutes reading through the forums and you will realize that. However, the other items listed should be compliementary to propecia/minoxidil/nizoral.. not instead of.

Ludacris, you are much more knowledegble then the average newbie on this site. Keep up the good work.
