fluridil causing hairloss?????

i applied some fluridil to a section on the side of my head a few weeks back to see how my scalp would react. i have noticed now that there is a thinned out area where i applied it?? what is going on here? i'm so confused...are all of these people claiming that fluridil works just people working for fluridil or people who don't know for sure if it's working and are just making assumptions???

the right side...where there are no signs of male pattern baldness...so it's not a shed. i just wanted to see if my scalp can tolerate it...i had no inflammation or itchyness...just a square patch that is lighter than the rest of my head

What do you mean by "lighter"? You mean lighter in color or lighter as in thickness and density? Just curious. :?

lighter from less density...it has diffused in one 2x2 sq inch area on the side and another on the top. i wanted to see how my scalp would react in male pattern baldness affected area and a non male pattern baldness affected area.

i realize that it this is possibly subject to my imagination...so i'm trying it again...on the opposite side of my head...there are no signs of thinning...it is at the same shade of darkness as the rest of my scalp (mostly at the sides...the top is a little less dense) i will see what happens in the next week.

Ya know, I was thinking. Do the areas of the head that are not affected by male pattern baldness, like the sides and back, have androgen receptors on the follicles, kinda like the ones that are affected by male pattern baldness, like top and temporal/frontal areas? If they do, I wonder if the ones on the back and sides grow from androgens while the top area fall out because of them? Ya know, it seems that since I have suffered from male pattern baldness that top takes for ever to grow, but the sides and back grow like crazy. Or maybe it's all in my head...........the top is slow and makes the sides and back "look" like they are growing faster. :?

I have used Fluridil every other day from about mid May up until now (one and half boxes). The days I don't use Fluridil I use Revivogen / spironolactone 5%.

I find that Fluridil does make your hair look thinner, since the following day after using Fluridil and washing it out, it feels and looks thinner compared to a night where I used Revivogen / spironolactone 5% combo.

Well, I have two and half boxes of Fluridil left, so I will use it until my supply runs out and then make a decision if I will order more, or just return to using Revivgoen / spironolactone 5% every night. Perhaps I will introduce a SOD into my regimen if Fluridil does not work out. I do not like to use any hairloss treatment during the day, so I may have to alternate Revivogen one night, then spironolactone 5% + a SOD the other night.

Androgens are "constantly" smothering you scalp and when you have nothing on to protect it, it does the damage. That could be the reason why your regimen has just simply slowed things down and not stopped you problem. Fluridil has a very high alcohol content and that could be the reason why it leaves your hair looking thinner......drying your hair out.
This is what I would do if I were you dis. I would apply the fluridil in the morning. I know you said you don't like to go with the during the day treatment. Maybe cause you are gonna be exposing yourself to the public and don't want anyone to notice your hair application. Well, fluridil shouldn't bring any attention. Just make sure that your scalp and hair is completely dry before applying it because it will degrade if it gets wet. Try to stay cool, so sweat won't degrade it either. Then at night, apply the revivogen/spironolactone combo. How do you apply the revivogen/spironolactone combo - spironolactone first then revivogen or the other way around? Another thing - applying fluridil every other day will make it hard to tell whether fluridil is working or not. It needs to be applyed everyday to see the best results. I am just trying to help bro. Thanks for the feedback, Kalika. I just can't use any treatment during the day. I few years ago, I used Prox-N (SOD) for a few months in the morning. Well, one time in my past job a few girls (co-workers) were walking by, and as they passed me, there were talking to each other saying (what is that in his hair, it looks so greasy?). You must imagine how embarrassing that is. Even when I use Nizoral at work, and wet my hair during the day to style it when it’s messy, I find that other coworkers can smell it on me. They always seem to take a sniff like something is in the air. Once my hair dries the Nizoral smell pretty much goes away. Perhaps I use too much.

So, I work in an office, and I know from personal experience that people are judgmental, and using hair loss treatments during the day is not realistic for me. Also, you are correct that Fluridil is not too obvious after applying it, but I still would find it too difficult to use during the day with this summer heat. I would sweat and the treatment would be ineffective.

Also, I believe there has to be a compromise between hair loss treatments and living a normal life. If I feel embarrassed about having hair loss treatments in my hair during the day, then this will affect my performance at work, and eventually my career.

I know the makers of fluridil recommend using it everyday, but it also maybe overkill to use all three topical 5ar inhibitors / AR blockers in one day. I believe Bryan said something about treatments like spironolactone can work when only applied once a day since once the AR is blocked it takes about a day for the body to form new ones.

Overall, I think without growth stimulators like Minoxidil, SODS, results will be limited to slowing or stopping of hair loss.

One last note, I first started thinning when I was 23, and I am very close to 30 now. My hair thinning is diffuse where the hairline is still there (but thin), and the parting in the center and crown of the head becomes wider. It's more of a female pattern of hair loss, where you lose more in density then in the typical Norwood pattern. So in the amount of time that has gone by, I can pretty much get away with almost a full head of hair, except you can clearly see diffuse thinning all around.

So for the time that has gone by since I start thinning, Revivogen / spironolactone 5% did most of the maintenance and bought me some time. I have used other things in the past like Propecia, Minoxidil, Prox-N, but I had a bad experience with Propecia and Minoxidil, but that would take to long to get into. That's enough rambling from me.

Oh, I forgot to answer your question. I apply Revivogen first, then wait about 1 hr or so and then apply the 5% spironolactone cream.

I thought I would post another update. I am shedding more hair then I ever have in years. Seems to be like the sheds I had when I was on Propecia, where you run your fingers through your hair and see a sink full of hair. I have longer hair, so it easy to see them in the sink. I counted them, and it was about 60 or so hairs. This does not include the hairs on my pillow in the morning, and hairs I lost throughout the day.

The only major change to my regimen has been alternating Revivogen / spironolactone every other day, and using Fluridil on the days that I don’t use spironolactone / Revivogen.

There could be a few possibilities why this could be happening. It could be that fluridil does not work, and the lack of using Revivogen / spironolactone every day is affecting my hair, and DHT is kicking in. Or it could be that Fluridil is a much stronger Anti-Androgen that it is causing my hair to shed like crazy like Propecia did years ago. Maybe it does get absorbed throughout the body and it's causing a Telogen Effluvium type of lose.

I have used Fluridil every other day since May, so that bring me to the three month mark. Although I used it every other day instead of every day, I get the idea of how this treatment will work for me. I am going to stop fluridil, and resume my Revivogen / spironolactone combo every day regimen. If my shedding stops in a few days to a week, I will know it's the Fluridil.

Does anyone know if Mensphara will accept returns of Fluridil? Still have over 2 boxes left.

Personally, if you are going through a shed like you did with the Propecia, then it is probably working. But, you do what you want to do.

Well, I have used Propecia for a year (I admit with various level of dosages from (1 MG to 0.5 MG), and all I had was nothing but major Telogen Effluvium. With using Revivogen / spironolactone in the past few years, my sheds have been greatly reduced.

Well, Mensphara will take back any unopened boxes, so I think I will return them.

Not true. There are studies to support that using spironolactone just during the week and not on the weekends is still very effective.
