IF you wanna read the MAIN PART, scroll down to the bit in capitals.

So i came onto this board a few days ago, cause i noticed some hair loss, not really thinning, and i believe i am losing hair, not because of genetics, 18 is far too young an age to lose hair, and even through genetics i would have to start losing about 35 - 40. I refuse to accept the fact that i lose hair now... genetics for male hair loss kicks in at 35 - 40 and genetics it is.. I believe a lot of others my age may experience the same problem.

So i had some scalp pain as well, which led to me research into a bit, i found out that scalp pain around the crown was reported quite a lot when there was movement of hair, and apparently its a condition called Trichodynia, i checked up on that, i found a medicalhealthwebsite/forum where a man a few years ago posted up something about his hair loss, he was quite young, in response a doctor said that he is not experiencing 'hairloss' as a genetically induced condition but rather a psychological one... i read that quite a few times, and i believe that could be a cause, psychological conditions can cause enzymes and hormones to go racing around in your body...

NOW HERE IS THE MAIN PART:

I said to hell with this, and took a look at what i thought was causing my problems(thank God, he showed me), it was my bloody shampoo. It contains some messed up ingredient called "sodium laureth sulphate" also known as "sodium lauryl sulfate" and many other names for it actually... so back to google again, and this time there were MANY search results from health websites to wikipedia, it is a harsh skin irritant, and one particular website i read it has a half life of 7.5 days, i dont know much about chemistry, but that means it will stay active for 7.5 days before it breaks down into another chemical, this is what happens in radioactive elements(not necessarily bad, but in this case it is!) 7.5 days of causing bullshit in ur system.

My advice: OIL your hair! all that moisture sucked out, is causing your scalp to be very messed up, oil it well, coconut oil is good, almond oil is good, even Johnsons baby oil(recommended), it's not expensive, at least for about 10 days do this, to counter the effects, im not sure if it does counter, but i notice my mum always puts a lot of oil, and my grandparents always talked about how important oiling was. Im gonna further look into this and post my findings here. Oh btw, has anyone found this out here before?

i just read about this thing today, so maybe im overreacting, whats remarkable is there is quite a few websites that state the the negative effects of this as well as wikipedia, which talks about the substance as a whole and not about the shampoo, have u been experiencing any pain on ur scalp before when u had hair? like if u move ur hair around it causes pain?

yes when i had lots of hair that certainly occured. now ive lost a lot a hair including the back and sides. no bald spots though, so maybe the shampoo destroyed all of my hair...or the propecia

I have seen supposed reports about how this is such a "toxic chemical"

It is found in many shampoos so if it really did cause hairloss i think everyone would be bald including women.

Head and shoulders, suave, and many other shamposs have it.

Being 18 is not being too young to be balding. So I doubt your shampoo is the cause of your problems.

Male pattern baldness can begin any time after puberty. I've seen it starting on guys as young as 17. Myself I started at 19, got to say that unfortunatly in my experience its the guys who start young that usually suffer the highest degrees of hairloss nw6/nw7 seen plenty of examples of guys completly bald in their mid-late 20's.

it seems to affect people with certain skin types, i have very dry skin usually, i went to the doctor today, and despite me having oiled my hair and scalp he said that...therefore a shampoo with SLS...

No I think if you're balding, 99% of the time it's because you have bad genes, just like the rest of us.
