I think all of those lengths look good with a receding hairline but what about when you've got receding and also some thinning in the front middle? Would it just make you look more bald?

In that case you should opt for a tapered buzzcut in which the sides and the back has a lower guard than the top, like a 1 on the sides and 1.5 on top and so on.
