Hey guys...............a quick question. Did you notice that one side of your hairline staretd going before the other and therefore one side is more receeded. For me, from what I can tell, mine started on the left side - it took about another 18months to two years for the other to start following suit.

Just curious realy...

On another note, started the ol' Procar quartered on december 1st so lets see how that goes!!!!

My mom was actually the first one to notice, and from what I can tell from pictures I've been receding indefinetly but didn't really notice it until I was 19. I think my right temple is worse, and it seems that sometimes people recede unevenly. I have heard several stories of people starting at only one temple, and it seems like this happens a lot but I can't relate from personal experience.

I do think it's funny that some people notice thier hair lines receding right from the get go but I didn't notice it at all until my mom said something about it. Maybe I always had a receded hairline.

Good luck with the proscar. It sounds like you caught it early like I did so hopefully finasteride will do a good job to maintain us.

It was the middle of my hairline that thinned first, and which has also been the toughest area to get any improvement, and then the right side was next to go followed, inevitably, by the left.

Of course then my head decided it didn't want hair on the crown and then gave up completely and made me an all over diffuse thinner. Yippee!

This progression only took about 6 months but luckily I was using finasteride and minoxidil within a couple of months of noticing my hairline thinning.

Kind of odd realy when you think about it. It was strange for me to see one side going and the other when still in tact!!! I would say I caught it early but kind of denied it. I wear my hair long so no-one could see it. Went on propecia in 2000 and then again in 2002 but only for 6 months so at a time - not long enough to see reasults. I'd say its been just under five years since I 'noticed'. The recession has been slower than I had imagined. Glad to be on the Proscar now though - its way too early to see reasults, but just the taking of it makes me feel as if I am making a stand. May add to this a some point but for the moment, maintaining what I have is my goal so I will see what I see.

It is not uncommon for one side to be asymmetrical. Mine was different from the fact that my hair loss was relatively even, however after starting treatment for 3 months my right temple is filling in while my left is not as of yet. Strange.

my right side started receding first and is still worse than the left side, however it seems the left side started to catch up a bit.

Right side for me. Its improving now, but still a lot behind the damn left side. Not a nice thing to have, but seems like quite a few fellas have the same prob.

definately my right side, its like a .5 Norwood ahead of my left side. It was always kinda receded there though because i used to have a large cowlick in that area.

My right side is perfect, but my left side is receeding, although my left has more hair density then my right, so there is some trade off it seems.

Before I logged on to this site I noticed that one side was different...I think my stylist cut too much on the left...that's got to be it.
