Also - Bite Me, talk to a number of the pro NFL players who have either come from or switched to Rugby - like the guy who's in all those movies (interestingly, maybe suffering from male pattern baldness too!) "the Rock".

He has come out a number of time and said that Rugby is not only harder physically and aerobically, but also the hits are as hard and without pads.

He used to play and then went to NFL - i believe his comment was "those rugby guys are nuts, man!".

I remember when I was in Australia living for a couple of years.. and all my Aussie mates would bust my American balls about our NFL.

They'd say that we're pussies for wearing pads.

My only reply was, "Because you don't have 300+ pound giants on your fields.. "

This I noticed from attending a few West Coast Eagles (Aussie Rules Footy) games.. they didn't wear pads of course, but they're guys were not nearly as big as a lot of NFL players.. so I imagine the hits aren't as severe either.

Sorry, getting hit by an NFL linebacker is gonna hurt if not kill you.. you better wear your pads! ;)

Rugby is fuckin hardcore though.. but I still don't think those guys are as big as our NFL monsters.

Haha. Remember the guy who posted his pictures on here, with the shaved head and the tattooed forehead? The one who was talking about how he used to be a model, etc.

Everyone told him he needed to smile in his pics, and his response was that he fractured his jaw playing rugby. The impending surgery screwed up his face muscles, leaving him physically unable to smile.

Rugby isn't 'hard'. It's f*****g stupid.

I don't really you can justify comparing rugby players with AFL players. AFL (Aussie rules) is much more about speed and ability to jump rather than being massive and phsiycal contact. Now compare NRL or rugby union players with NFL players - that's more correct!

Isn't it a bit rude to laugh at this guy for smashing his jaw? Dude, I would be f*****g pissed off if somebody was having a laugh at me if I was physcally scarred!

Have you ever played Rugby? I have not, but I think it's unfair to pass judgement on something you have never done yourself.

To the Aussies - I'm actually a saffa but emigrated to the UK so I've had rugby in my blood all my life.

I love union but credit to the Kangaroos for winning the 3N's you guys gave GB a right pounding in the final. There can't be a harder team of players in the world than those guys. Those guys are MONSTERS.

http://www.abc.net.au/sport/content/200412/s1255184.htm

South Sydney chief executive Shane Richardson says Australia's rugby league exhibition game in the USA later this morning isn't worth the risk.

The Kangaroos will face the USA Tomahawks in Philadelphia just a few days after their demolition of Great Britain in the Tri-Nations final.

Mr Richardson said the danger of injury to National Rugby League stars outweighted the benefits of spreading the league gospel in the USA.
