Hey just wanted to share my story since I been lurking through these forums for quite a while.
I started losing my hair at about the age of 25 when I noticed my hair thinning from my crown area after watching myself in wedding video. For the most part it was hardly noticeable and barely about last summer around July I barely began to notice my hair really shedding from the crown area. It started with a small patch on the right side of crown area and now has continuously began to wrap all around the top of my head. It has became really thin now from the crown and the top of my head and began reading though these forums to try to find a treatment to stop the loss of my hair.
I am 27 now and I started taking the proscar splitting them into 5 pieces and using nizoral. Its been about 3 weeks and recently I bought $100 worth of Minoxidil foam and started using it for a about a few days. Tonight after dropping off my girlfriend without the urge of having sex with her knowing I won't see her for 2 weeks and in bed with a fresh coat of minoxidil I sprung out of my bed. I tried to watch some p**rn and still was not what it was it was just a few weeks ago prior to starting proscar. I eventually relieved myself and noticed the watery side effects of finasteride. I shrugged it off and thought to myself just suck it up. However later on that night the smell of minoxidil just made me nauseous. I woke up and ran to the bathroom and just began to wash it off.
I have decided to accept my fate and just let nature take its course. The side effects of finasteride is just too much for me to deal with and the thought of having to apply minoxidil twice a day is just too much for me to handle.
I understand that people have claimed that these side effects will eventually go away but I am the type of person who never takes any medicine when I am sick. So for their to be clear side effects that are clear as day on my libido and sex function is just too much handle. I came close to just shaving my head but I thought that was just too much of an overreaction. What I do know is that I am done taking this pills and hopefully the side effects will go away before my girlfriend comes back.
