He everybody, I'm 22 years old.
I took my first propecia pill 9 months ago. I think that i stopped a little bit to loose my hair. I use minoxidil on my temple (no real change honestly...) and I used nizoral but i didn't like it my hair were too dry.

Anyway. I didn't get regrow with finasteride 0.5mg. I'm 1,83m and 87kg. Do you think that changing for 1mg is a good idea?

I began to take 1mg this week. no real change no pain no watery semence.

Thanks you for your help :punk:

Well, you know the risk.

On paper, there's not much difference between 0.2g and 1g Finasteride - effects and side effects are not that different. There is study on the effectiveness of different doses around here on GourmetStyleWellness.

Always make an informed decision though and carefully read about ups and downs. The official risks according to Propecia manufacturer Merck are:
"In general use, the following have been reported: breast tenderness and enlargement; depression; allergic reactions including rash, itching, hives and swelling of the lips and face; problems with ejaculation; testicular pain; difficulty in achieving an erection that continued after stopping the medication; and, in rare cases, male breast cancer.

Check out propeciahelp.com for infos from those guys who suffer from the sides.

Don't worry about the sides. less than 5% of men will get sexual sides. If you do get sides and stop, then you have a 99% chance of recovery.

How many women in the world are on birth control? Did you know that being on the pill makes you more at risk for blood clots, stroke, and heart attacks? Yet, millions, if not billions, of women still take it.

Side effects effect a small percentage of the population, otherwise they'd be called "effects" of the medication....

hey Rawtashk, I was just wondering if you thought about replacing finasteride with dutasteride?

I made the transition and I'm always second guessing my decision. The reason I made the transition are for 2 reasons

1) Don't have to take pills everyday (I take it twice a week)
2) Dutasteride more potent (blocks 2 dht vs 1 by finasteride)

Would like your opinion.

That is not true. Up to 15.8% had sexual sides like impotence depending on what study you are quoting.

The difference between the two doses is minimal. finasteride has a flat dose rate. There have been studies posted here on the subject.

In all honesty I doubt raising the dosage will grow back any hair. Whatever hair you had nine months ago, terminal, minituarized, whatever, all of those should have initially been strengthened by finasteride. finasteride won't regrow lost hair.

finasteride WILL regrow lost hair....if you catch it fast enough. Within the last few months, probably. Hair lost from 3 years ago? Probably not. It also depends a lot on the person.

Personally I upped from .5mg (for 3 years) to 1.25mg and have noticed a thickening of the hairs. Everyone reacts to a drug differently.

mmh 2 days ago i decided to switch back to 0.5. i felt a bit tired and i didn't feel good in my body. i don't know why. i feel really better with 0.5 and loosing less hair. maybe once i'll take time to switch to 1.25 but i think that it takes time to my body to live with 1.25.

If you plan to up the dose again you can do it very gradually also. This may help your body to adapt to it. Go to 0.75mg first for a month. And then 1mg.

I'm also on 0.5 and had sides the first 2 months even on that, but they went away. I just kept popping the pill. I didn't tolerate 1mg. Maybe eventually I'll go up to 1mg but I wanna see the effect of this first.
