Generic Finasteride - Is it exactly the same?

Hi all. I started a topic a few weeks ago with a few questions and I haven't gotten the answer I'm looking for, so I figured I would narrow it down a bit. I've already searched in other threads but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for.

I'm currently on generic finasteride - it's the pills that say H on one side, 36 on the other (image attached). My general practitioner who prescribed it told me the generic stuff is 80% the same, which could account for it being less effective (I've been on it five months and my hairline is getting worse and I'm thinning more on top). If I recall correctly, the pharmacist said something backing this up.

On the flip side, I've read on here from a few posters that it's exactly the same as Propecia. Who is correct? If the generic is not the same, I'm thinking of moving on to Proscar, or another affordable option.

They are correct from what I recall, generics are allowed to contain 80-120% of the active ingredient compared to the name brand. This should be ok tho Bc finasteride has a wide inhibition DHT curve (.2 mg works almost as well as 1 mg)
