27y old, male. Here's the current state of my hair after cutting the hair to 1mm one week ago (see attached picture).

The problem I have right now is that the horse shoe pattern is ALWAYS visible. I cut it short and it's like this after 1 week. I let it grow and it's even worse. I cut everything down (to very clean shaven) and it's even worse. The more people laughing at me the worse it looks it seems...

Started with finasteride 1mg + Minoxidil 5% 2 weeks ago. Thinking of switching to avodart next week + Nizoral.

My head still seems to be covered by hair but it's colorless and especially in the crown very short.

Not sure if I should continue with the treatment or just give up and shave every day.

Anyways... any advice please? I'm going f*****g crazy here lol. Thank you.

Here's a short story of my daily commute in the hopes it brightens someones day...Women usually sit next to me, look at my head, start laughing, then sit somewhere else. One couldn't stop laughing for 15mins!

Is this a prank?
What I find hard to believe is that:
- in your situation you started treatment two weeks ago
- you already questioning the results (it takes a year)
- you say stangers regularly laugh at you.

If this is NOT a prank,
well your hair indeed is very thin for treatments but, whatever you try, you have to give it time.

the last point if odd yes. something freddy would say. but the other points, he may just not be informed.

if your serious man, then i feel for u. brutal hairloss for 27. jesus christ.

like roberto said, you need to wait a year on meds but whether or not you should even try depends how fast your lost your hair? when did u lose it? in the last couple of years? gradually over the last ten? or a long time ago?

the more recent the better, the more hair you can get back.

are you bald on top? if so, and if the hair was lost a long time ago, i dont think id even bother man. save up for hm tech in the next few years or so.

It's not that I'm bald it's just that the hairs are very thin and many are without color.

sorry bro that is baldness. its whether or not you can get those back to terminal which is key. like i said, if youve lost a lot in the last few years, then you have a shot as some nice regrowth.

derms are useless, gotta do your own research man.

i feel for you dude, cant think of too many guys who are as bald as you as this age. hopefully these fuckers will have good news for us in a few years with hm technology.

You're right, I probably need a therapist. Can you blame me? With hair like this lol. I've got a few more though. I went to the gym the other day (you know because people usually say shave your head, man up and go to the gym or something like that?) and received a similar comment . The trainer even came to me and apologized for the guy's behavior afterwards... I didn't know that guy at all.

i dont blame u at all mate. id want to f*****g top myself if i had your level of hairloss at 27.

with the gym man, its not about manning up. its about trying to make the best of your situation. hitting the gym, getting a bit of colour, growing some facial hair. it all helps.

are you good looking, have a strong jawline?

hows the top of your head? have you got a hairline left?

Whether its laughing,..........or............just staring.......or commenting.......matters little.

Its a public ridicule.

You dont have much to lose by staying on the program eh?

Im so sorry for this loss......but life is certainly messy.......and we dont control it.

Go with a transplant if you can, and just leave the back bald spot if you have to.

What matters most if really just having some hair in front to frame your face.

As you age in particular.

Hey myhairsuckswtf, I know exactly how you feel, because I have been trough all of this sh*t , I'm 30 y and I have same your norwood scale ,may be a little bit aggresive, I really couldn't handle that, I lost interest in life, and I became paranoid of social meetings, so I felt miserable and I start smocking weed and drinking just to forget about shity things I have been through, sorry for the long story, what I want to say just give it a shoot mat be other would work well for you, I have been on finasteride over 3 months and I really see a good progression, I'm not even on minoxidil and I see regrowth.
And sorry for bad English I'm not a native speaker.

40 day progress update:
  1. There's black hair on the front side again. See Brad Pitt example. Not as thick as his but previously only had vellus hair there. Both sides.
  2. More hair in the temples and the front scalp. It looks more dense.
  3. Can't say much about the crown/vertex area. It still looks completely bald and the horse shoe is still visible.
  4. Shedding still continuing, with lots of mini-transparent-hair falling out
Got side effects from using too much minoxidil I think? The left part of my face is getting puffy. Used like 10x - 20x of the recommended dosage though. Reduced that to around 1ml and to once a day, in the mornings, so the pillows don't get soaked in it. It's like a numbness feeling. Also reduced finasteride to 0.5mg - 1mg per day (was 1 - 1.5mg before). Also changing taking finasteride in the evenings instead of mornings.

Yeah saw that vid on /r/tressless the other day. I'll give finasteride+min a try first, see what happens in ~6months-1year. If it's still as bad as it is now it's either that or shaving the head. Don't really feel like using a hair transplant. Got enough scars already...

Thanks for the info!

there is no god, f*****g hell. This world is a f*****g joke and needs to be nuked. Its not fair for someone who is 27 to lose out on youth because of no fault of his.

Added a new pic under broad daylight. The hair length should be around the same in all pictures. I always let my hair grow for around 2 weeks then cut it to around 0.5mm to make it easier to apply minoxidil.

Mid-week update:
1. Still sheeding mini-hair daily
2. Face tingling has gone away
3. I seem to be overdosing on finasteride as well (unless that's my imagination?). If I take too much I get bad headaches and blurry vision. Cutting 5mg pills into 4-5 pieces might not work because the stuff inside is not necessarily evenly distributed(?) Going to get 1mg pills instead.

I also think the contents are not evenly distributed. But considering how the drug works (take a while to the concentration to go up/down), I decided to: cut a 5mg pill in 4 (or 5) as even as possible, but then, storing the pieces in a single vial/pot. So, if I split 2 pills, I use 2 plastic containers: 1 for each "pill".

Then, I use one container at a time. This way, at least I know I ingested 5mg in 4 or 5 days.

On the other hand, if you cut all your pills and store all the pieces in a single container, then you could very well ingest all the "high-concentration" pieces first, and have more than 5mg / 5 days.

Make sense??
