Ive noticed that my hair is thinning, it's not terrible but it's definitely getting thinner especially at the crown of my head. I noticed it started slowly thinning maybe 2 years ago and it's slowly continuing.

At this point I want to do something about it before it gets out of hand. I'm not sure if I should:

A) Go to my personal doctor to have them recommend me a dermatologist specializing in hair loss

B) Book an appointment with a dermatologist specialing in hair loss on my own

C) Try and pick up minoxidil, review my decisions and just start treatment on my own.

Would love to hear feedback from you guys on what the best approach is and what you're experience has been.

Thanks!

I knew it was male pattern baldness for me so I didn't need to get it diagnosed. However I went to a doctor to get a prescription for finasteride.

I've been doing research all morning... to be honest I'm going to go to a Doctor and come in with a bunch of questions. There's really only 2 things they can prescribe but at least I can ask them about dosage and timelines.

My main concerns after researching are the general side effects of the medications and treatments. I've seen rogain linked to heart issues a couple of times now which is a bit concerning obviously...

At this point, I'm not sure if it would be best to reach out to a hair loss specialist in my area to book an appointment or to go through my doctor.
