Hello there! I grew up speaking "spanglish" (half latino/half gringo) so please excuse any grammatical errors. Anyway, I decided to enlist myself in several hair loss forums and several "motivational" BS forums as well because I'm done with this goddamn insensitivity towards hair loss.

Background: I am 25 years old and I have been balding since I was 20 years old or so. In the Norwood Scale I'm probably still at 2 but have severe thinning on my temples (they almost look like patches now, hence my username). I recently visited a hair treatment clinic and, even though they acknowledge that I suffer from hair loss, they explained that my condition is still relatively early and that it would be best for me to wait. I then asked for advice to a close family friend who has some experience in hair treatment and was told the same thing. Now, apparently, I have to wait powerless for my genes to diffuse my hair so I can be the right candidate for hair transplant.

This, of course, is causing stress, anxiety and social repercussions that I am hardly willing to endure for much longer now. Therefore, I am oblige to start using Minoxidil (Rogaine). As I was explained, this product was used initially on patients with heart disease who claimed there was a noticeable growth in their hair. Now it is used in the hair treatment industry and is proven to work on some people.

The only remaining available product is Finasteride. This has several conditions as it is PRESCRIBED and its effects must be under supervision. It's a long term commitment usage and its side effects are quite significant.

I'm probably going with Minoxidil in about a month, when I know I am going to have enough resources to sustain this for a VERY long time.

Subject: I saw something on TV a while ago about hair loss that crawled inside me like f u c k i n g cancer. I have the pleasure now to share it with you, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imwcT784F8k

This is the perfect example of how society reacts, very discreetly and negligent at the same time, towards hair loss. That specialist seems to know what she is talking about but look at that host, that f u c k i n g b**ch, look at how her gestures sweat out laughter and prejudice about it and then look at the clueless dude with a full head of hair sitting next to her, he just doesn't give a F U C K!!! In merely eight minutes we see a somebody who probably is working hard on this, yet we see how society sees it and acts like it's all subject of ridicule.

I just had it. Just a couple of weeks ago somebody (a female) pointed out the right bald patch on my head and instead of being cool as I always try to be, I said: "Can you do something about it? I bet you can't, given those stretch marks on your thighs." Spanish translation sounds better but anyway... you get the point.

I left a nice comment on that video.

just start finasteride bro

and there was nothing wrong with that vid the hosts were respectful and just being very sociable and playful with each other? They do that on TV shows all the time. They could be talking about some tragedy that happened and talking about something else and laughing about it the next second. Its just the way they are, they have playful/fun personalities which is why they have the job as a TV show host. Its like you guys are under some delusion that people are making fun of you all the time when really no one gives a fck. You are just overthinking it because they are talking lightly about something which means a lot to you

If they were talking about breast cancer, I can guarantee this interview would be dead, like some sort of mournful wake. But since it's hair loss, ha! we can laugh about it and act "playful" and say: -choosing from hair to sex- "hahaha what do you want more?" XD. Hell no, it should NOT be like that. I can bet if any of these three, especially that b**ch host, loses their hair they would not even smile when talking about it, less laughing like a retard and approaching the subject hysterically. You see, I don't think they where disrespectful per se, but it is the usual wrong approach towards hair loss. This is what we teach people, talk about hair loss you can laugh about it, then talk about say, sight loss, then whoa this is a problem we must do something about and what not. That's exactly why nobody takes male pattern baldness seriously.

I'm very insecure on taking finasteride because of the side effects (mainly because I have a girlfriend). I just want to hold my hair a while longer with minoxidil and when it's all done just go through hair implant.

It's not really the baldness itself that is so bad but the way everyone treats you like a joke and thinks it's perfectly OK to treat me like a sub-human piece of trash. It fvcking tears me up inside!

Yeah, you left some immature and rude comment:
She doesn't deserve hair. I hope she experiences female pattern baldness.

You are messed up dude, if you started to wish others to get bald.

It's not "everyone", it's just superficial people.
"sub-human piece of trash"?? Omg, dude, are you serious? If you are bald, well, you may not be the number 1 interest of everyone around, you may be not regarded as the most attractive guy, but from here to consider yourself "a piece of trahs", it's a long way...

The doctor in the video said that loss of libido from propecia occurs in 90% of people... That doesn't seem right.

I think he is referring on how people, society, sees bald men as trash. Everyone does because society has been manipulated to act that way towards bald men.
Here, let me give you a prime example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsD4UK_-jeE

LOL, that video is perfect. I had a similar situation happen to me a few weeks ago. I went out with two of my guy friends and we decided to go out to some clubs. Both of them are pretty good looking guys, one looks like Jason Statham and the other is basically a Brad Pitt kind of guy who basically ALWAYS steals my thunder when mingling with women. Bring him out and you are NOT going to get a number because he's going to get all of them. I've told him this many times that I dont like having him around because I don't stand a chance next to him. Anyway, I had sneakers on and a graphic t-shirt, so no way was I getting into any club. So we went to his place and I borrowed his shoes and a dress shirt.

We go out and some random girl yells out at him 'I like your hair!' and another says 'I like your shirt!!'

And I immediately looked at him and said 'SEE! Even when I'm wearing YOUR sh*t, I still don't have a chance. Do you get it now?!'

He laughed it off saying its all in my head.... but that's just the way it goes if you're not an attractive guy. Thank you hair loss and society for branding me as such.

Ha! Yeah people are so oblivious when it come to balding, especially the ones closer to you. Just the other day a friend told me "Dude, you should grow your 'fro back!" and I just grinned while thinking "Don't you see that I fu*king can't??" ...Then people say you are the one vain and paranoid.

dear zdm

we're starting a new baldcore/oldcore musical project with me as the misantropic and tormented, norwooding piano player and Exodus as our sad and highly inhibited, ghost-like vocalist. We need more members in our group.

You could join us as the denial spreading, nw2 false prophet of equality and justice.
