Keep in mind that testosterone does not cause hair loss. Follicles that are sensitive to its by-product, DHT are what causes male pattern baldness.

If there is no testosterone available, then DHT cannot be synthesized. Running can also reduce insulin, triglycerides, and cholesterol...all of which have been implicated in male pattern baldness. Jogging has worked for me...guess, i'm just one of the lucky ones.

Lowering your test. levels will in all probability lower your mood, as low test. levels have been associated with depression.

There are hundreds of studies showing that running or cardiovascular exercise relieves depression and increases feelings of well being.

Trust me...............you want a healthy level of test. in your system. And interestingly enough, you also want some cholesterol and a healthy level of insulin. Lots of new studies on cholesterol........it's not as bad as some have theorized, it actually is the bodys repair mechanism for vessels.

True, now that you mention it I seem to recall that certain studies have shown that exercise like running increases endorphin levels, which in turn elevate mood. Hmmmmmmmm.......such a guessing game. I guess we should apply the old saying that I heard hundreds of times from my grandmother............."All things in moderation."

Yep, diet is also important. Men who eat more fat have a higher serum T level than those who eat less fat. Also, those whose fat intake is more saturated have a higher T level than those who eat the same amount of fat, but with more unsaturated fat.

About this insulin resistance thing - I am a vegan so rely on bread and pasta a lot (both wholegrain) but don't have sugar. Do these boost insulin levels?

For me heavy cardio excercise did nothing for hairloss. I was on the swim team this year in high school and I shed for much of the season even though we were doing very tough 2hr long workouts everyday. My shedding has subsided now and I'm really not working out much anymore, so I don't really think there's a connection there.

Yup, pasta and grains are recommended to be kept out of your diet if you read up on insulin resistance.
