Okay since my hair is pretty much going down the drain at 19 , I've decided I need to compensate by making everything else perfect. I'm looking for the perfect skin routine to keep it healthy and glowing to take my mind of the lack of hair on my head. I've decided now that I'm going to absolutely spend as much time as possible doing crunches/pushups/cardio and weights. I'm not fat but I'm only 5' 9" so the more fat I shed the more defined my muscle will be.

I'm free for the next week so I'm going to put the pressure on. At least 3 hours (incl. cardio) everyday for the first week then I'm going to try and fit in about an 1-1.5 hours every 2nd day for the next 3 months and then assess to see if I can do more or need to do things differently. Now I fully understand that I need to rest and eat differently as well. It's basically all in my head that I can't do it , but now I just feel like I have to do it (since hair loss).

Hopefully it will be more like "WTF that guy is built...ohh and look at his great skin" instead of " WTF that guy is going bald". I hope I won't lose this motivation.

Okay, a couple of things

1. 3 hours a day of training is WAY TOO MUCH, especially if you are just starting out. At most you should be doing an hour a day.

2. Look at some weight-lifting sites because if I remember correctly you can't really do weights and run at the same time because you have to eat more to replace the energy you lost during running and then eat to keep your muscle gains you get.

3 hours is was too much, unless your training to become a pro body builder. Most times less is more .. an hour to an hour and a half is plenty .. and you shoud take a day of rest .. better yet if your looking to get ripped look at designed programs like P90x ..

You will injure yourself doing that. And you will burn up your muscles. To get inshape, you just start at a level that is moderately challenging, and maybe 30 minutes long, and then gradually build up from there. I injured myself doing stuff like that. I've done some crazy workouts for 2 months straight and not got any stronger. It is all about progression. And eating many small meals throughout the day, and sleeping enough. There is a lot you got to do, and 80% of the stuff you do to grow happens outside the gym.

After 2 years of progression, you can eventually build up to 3 hour workouts. Some really good high school soccer players do 3 workouts per day, 4 hours total. But they took the time to build up. You jump right in, you will hurt yourself and get no where.

Even if you get on steroids right now, you could not handle 3 hours. You would still have to build up to it, but you'd get there in half the time, which would be 1 year instead of 2. Or something like that. And you would have to gradually build up the steroid dose too. Do not take roids though. Just trying to drive home to you that you can't jump into a bruce lee workout when you are a beginner.

Alternate between cardio and weights everyday.

Start running for 5-10 mins, and increased it slowly to 20-30 mins. The next day go to the gym and do an hour, but don't push your limits or you'll be in pain.

gotta love SAF.

But even I must conceed: the odds of him or me building that body in the near future are small. Might take 2-3 years and be 2-3 years older. But in 2-3 years, you will be 2-3 years older anyway, so might as well at least have the body by then.

Drinking a lot of alcohol certainly won't keep those age signs away, at least not as well as exercise will.

Resting and diet play a huge role in body building. Like ccs said, many small meals through out the day is the way to go. When your starting out you want to bulk as much as you can. eat, eat, eat. you NEED calories, LOTS of calories. You also need about a gram of protein for every pound you way, everyday. You weigh, 170? Aim for 170g's of protein per day. Now a lot of noobs with stuff them selfs with these huge protein shakes. Your body can only digest 50g's of protein at a time. So think of this in your meal routine.

This is my routine:

Morning:
Eggs, milk, outmeal.

about 2 hours later, protein shake with whole milk. Now make sure if you buy protein to get 100% whey protein everything else is crap. When making shakes, make sure you add in the protein from the milk to your 50g limit. Whole milk should have about 8g per cup.

Lunch and dinner I try to eat a meat along side with some vegtables. Chicken is high in protein and so is tuna. Any kind of meat will work tho, really just depends on your budget. I add in a protein shake between lunch and dinner and sometimes before bed(if im not drinking alch that night haha) :innocent:

When going to the gym, work out HARD for 45 min. I mean like bust your ***. don't stare at all the hot *** girls around your or the totally ripped guys, wondering if they're on roids. If your going slow you could probably work out for another 15-20 min.

Your body builds muscle when your resting. Hitting the gym everyday is retarded. Starting off I would work out then two days off with plently of sleep. Then work myself up to EOD lifting at the gym. I would work 1-2 cardio sessions into the week, on your off days. Cardio is good yes, but too much cardio is burning TOO many calories and you wont gain any mass this way.

Im not gonna go into a routine at the gym because thats way too much to cover, but check out bodybuildingforums, should find everything you need and more.

Oh yah there are too many supplements out there, even more than ones for hair loss lol. IMO There are only 3 I would f*** with. There are others that can help greatly, but they go into messing with hormone levels.

Whey protein
Creatine
Nitric oxide

There are many diffrent brands out there, some better than others. Just research on them and buying online is always gonna be cheaper.

Well GL getting ripped bro, you'll soon discover that your looking forward to going to the gym after you get that feeling of a hard workout and you start seeing results :punk:

Getting into shape doesn't take 2-3 years, that's body builders territory you are talking about. Someone who works out 3 times a week should start seeing muscle definitions coming out in a few months. I'm not saying you are going to get ripped in a few months, but a few months makes a huge difference.

Besides, I never really understand why people want to get big. Obviously, it's a personal choice and I can only speak for myself. I prefer a fit body to a body builders body.

1. Get a gym membership

2. Your gym MUST have an instructor, and it MUST be compulsory for newbies to get an induction course. I've been through a few of those. A gym that doesn't have those facilities is a poor one, and I would avoid it. (the only time I've been to a gym without an instructor was some cheap hole at uni... it was extremely cheap, like 30 times less than what I would have to pay now.. I miss those old days, everything is expensive now)

3. Go to the induction and get a taste for it. Talk to the instructor, ask him questions. If you tell him you want to get big, he's probably going to laugh at you, because you aren't realistic with your expectations. It takes time....

4. Forget the extreme diet in the previous post, that's for body builders. Start small... You need to build stamina, etc. You can't push yourself from day one, be realistic with your routine and expectations. If you expect too much and don't see results you are going to get frustrated. Your muscles should burn but not burn to a limit that you can't move for 5 days. You have to find that limit for yourself.

5. Go to the gym 3 times a week, and in a few months your body is going to feel very different. Then you can decide what you are doing next. Instead of researching, start doing it and you'll learn in no time.

good luck....

as they say abs are made in the kitchen and not in the gym. To get ripped you need to change your lifestyle.. no fatty foods at all, no alcohol etc. Not worth it. I would say just get in fitness and put on some muscle. Dont strive for ripped definition, its impossible to most.. just too strict.

Eating fat does not make you fat. That is such a huge myth out there. 10-30% of your calories can come from fat and still have an optimal diet. You need fat in your food to absorb fat soluble vitamins. Saturated fat is best for this.

Abs are made mostly in the kitchen, by eating 5-9 small, balanced meals each day, from first waking up to right before bed. They are a MAJOR turn on to women, and worth getting. Many people will lie about that for different reasons, but the only women who are not picky are the ones who are not pretty.

fat is essential but to maintain cut abs there can be no takeaways. crisps, alcohol, chocolate.. never. i have been there..its hell and not worth it.

CCS it is loved by women but women arent as picky as you think. A general fit body is all ya need. If a girl likes your face and persona she not guna turn you down over abs no matter how hot she is. Hotties arent nothing like you think..maybe the paris hilton type but not the majority of them.

It has been said that eating 3 large meals a day is much worse then eating 6-7 smaller ones. Even if overall you eat the same thing.

This is about the most accurate post I've seen although there are tidbits of good information in the other posts. "iwantperfection" wrote the other great statement: Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym. Although building up muscle mass burns calories, you will probably never see your six pack unless you get below 10% body fat. Diet is so important, especially when you are older to get that 6-pack. Being 37 now, it's getting harder to keep ripped and sport a 6-pack. Now I actually gain some fat in the winter and start my trimming routine by April so that by the time July comes around I am at my peak summer body. Fellas, there is a serious learning curve to this whole thing and to be honest, there is more BS information out there than accurate.

Bodybuilding.com is a nice site to see videos and routines of exercises but the forums are seriously the blind leading the blind. You never really know who is giving you the advice behind the monitor. Could be fat, injured dude trying to feel important. Hell we all could be, however, I will always be willing to provide pics upon request.
