Hey guys what shampoo's do you guys use that give a cosmetic thickening look. (Please don't say nizoral I use it but it leaves my hair looking very dry and limp). Currently I am using an all natural herbal shampoo when I go out on the weekends that is okay it is just a b**ch to get. I am looking for something easily attainable.

Has anyone tried that Head and Shoulders shampoo that Troy Polamalu advertises?

Thanks.

only from what i've read online, i've seen people mention nioxin. i don't know what it's like so another member would be best to answer, but that's a supposed hair thickening shampoo.

Man in space where can I pick this up? Do you buy it online? Or can you get it at your local supermarket?

One thing to keep in mind, everyone's hair reacts differently to products so don't be discouraged if you find something that doesn't work well.

Also, with moth shampoos your hair needs a few washes before the effect takes place.

That is a very good point Cassin, my comments are a little over zealous, it only comes from my enthusiasm for the the effect that product had on me immediately, but of course, implicit in anything i say regarding any product is that everyone is different, its a good idea to make sure that notion is explicit, so thanks

Well too be honest that was a general comment on my part so please don't think that was directed at you.

Nizoral makes my hair look thin but some people swear by it.

I love Jason's but it doesn't do much for me either but the vast majority of people love it. In fact its so cheap I strongly suggest people give it a shot first. Even if it doesn't help with cosmetic effect its a top notch scalp cleanser that helps with residue from other products.

Personally, one of my favorite products is Aveda Pure Abundance Shampoo but its so ridiculously expensive I highly recommend trying other products first.

So when it comes to cosmetic shampoos don't go crazy buying large quantities until you are certain you not only like something, but you feel like you have tried other products.

Another caution when it comes to ALL the products I mentioned above, one thing that nearly every scalp cleanser and cosmetic thickener has in common is that it dries your scalp out so...

- Do not use them everyday. There is simply no need to. More is not better and the obsession and worry with frequency will go down over time. I do promise you that.

- Gentle Shampoos like Tea Tree oil are great to use on off days and are very cheap.

- The stronger stuff like Nizroal, you should always use a conditioner afterwards to keep the scalp from getting too dry.

well cosmetically and temporarily is what the guy that opened this thread was looking for.
I myself am currently searching this board to find threads about recommended cosmetically thickening shampoos.
it seems this is asked all the time but gets a different answer every time so people keep asking.
I think there should be a sticky with an answer for the current time (as this changes from year to year)

Which is why I recommended it, which I do highly. For me and many others as Cassin has Alluded to, Jason Thin to thick and others (though I cant personally vouch for those) has a discernable temporary thickening effect.

I've been using Avalon Biotin B Complex shampoo for about a week now, and it really works very well. It's also pretty cheap and has a bunch of stuff in it that's good for your scalp. I recommend it!

I'll have to try a moth shampoo one of these days. They must be extremely gentle on your scalp 'n hair :innocent:
