Got Denied For A Prescription For Finasteride, What Is The Next Step?

I'm a 19 year old in good health, the reason for getting denied was the doctor thought it was worth losing my hair to avoid the possible side effects. I have never needed a prescription before in my life so I'm a bit lost at what I should do now, get some from online or go to another doctor?

I'm in the US by the way, any advice?

Alldaychemist online. Legit propecia.

Hold off on taking it for a few years in my opinion. Use minoxidil, castor oil.

Where in the US are you? On the .0001% chance you're in my area, I'll give you my derm's info. He should write you a script no problem.

Your doctor is a f*****g idiot! When I visited my GP for an avodart prescription at 18 he had no idea it could be used for AA. I told him to google it and he pulled up a wiki page and some others and said "ok, sweet!" he then wrote the prescription lol.

You can get one online at - https://www.medicalwellnesscenter.com/ OR
http://www.mdaligne.com/ (A doctor writes the prescription and they will fill it for you and you can pick up the order at your local pharmacy)

From my research, alldaychemist seems to be pretty good. I've ordered dutas from them and the package is on its way. Don't order more than a three month supply to possibly avoid problems with customs.

I don't want to sound like I'm influencing you to use finasteride, but I'll share what has happened to me using it for just over a year. The first couple of weeks I did notice that my semen was a bit watery (now this is an honest assessment of my experience with the product). However, being as depressed as I was I stayed on it and hoped for the best. Within 3 months that side effect was gone and I had no decrease in libido. Still got hard if I saw a fine girl so that's how I'm sure it hasn't affected me haha. I think maybe my body had to adjust to it so that may be why I had that side effect in the beginning. Either way I'm not sure if I had any hair thickening after a year or at least significant thickening. I would say it has slowed or halted progression of further hair loss as I grew my hair out again and it looks just like before but MAYBE my crown filled in just a little bit. At a young age I feel like it is safer for us to use finasteride than older people because our hormones are still going wild in our adolescent years. That's just my opinion but I'm not a doctor. Either way I'll just finish off by saying I'm still on finasteride because I can still get an erection and because I'd rather be a little more re-assured about my hair loss not progressing much further! Give it a try and if you notice any side effects you can just hop off of it immediately, or be like me and just take the risk like the idiot but fortunate guy I was :)

Go to another doctor. My GP was a moron as well. He didn't prescribe it to me. The result? Lost 80% of my density in three years, existing hair looks like wiry sh-t. Btw, I was 19 as well when I went to my GP. No need to wait, go to another one as soon as possible.

If he denies it as well, you don't have any options left except for getting it online.

Good luck!

Western NY

Bro if you pay the shipping I can send you like a year supply for free
Thank you for the offer but have to decline, I have the money to buy it myself.

Maybe your doctor is right. At 19, we might not be fully grown. That's both physically and mentally.

Have you given Minoxidil a shot. At 20, I grew back all of my hair, to a full Norwood zero. Of course as
I got older, I had to do more to keep my existing hair.
I'm almost positive I'm done growing at this point and definitely past puberty. Also I wouldn't mind doing what you suggested but I heard minoxidil doesn't work too well for the frontal sides compared to the crown the former is where my hairloss is and don't want to risk it.

I think I am going to order from alldaychemist and then look into trying to get a prescription so I don't have to pay shipping and deal with an online store.

Maybe the doctor was right in this instance given the OPs age however a lot of them are morons. When I asked my doctor about a prescription for finasteride he just looked at me blankly for a few seconds then said "oh, erm we don't do that". I don't even think he knew what Finasteride was!
I eventually got mine from the chemist Boots. It's probably not the cheapest but it's safer then getting it online and I didn't need a prescription.

I've been on finasteride for going on 6 months now, and I use an iPhone app called Spruce to see my dermatologist "virtually." It doesn't work in every state, but I live in Brooklyn, so you should be in luck in Western NY. I'd check that out before you start ordering stuff online...I like being able to pick up my prescription locally and have a doctor at my fingertips if I have questions.

Good luck!

This is what I do(also in NY) but I use "lemonaid" its a 15 dollar virtual visit(which is less than my copay lol), compared to 40 for Spruce.

Some things like finasteride should be able to be prescribed online. I mean there is nothing a doctor face to face is going to do any differently its not like there are a lot of in person tests or anything you either take the stuff or you dont.
I think 19 is a bit young though.

Thank you for the heads up just used them, they turned me down on the reason of "mix of risk factors and more testing", which I shouldn't have any as I'm perfectly healthy and didn't put in any data that didn't reflect that. I am going in in a day or two to finish my blood testing, I got most of it done but my derm (the one who denied me) wants some more data so I'm going back.

Going to try out Spruce, thank you for telling me about them. I'll tell you how it goes. May I ask what derm you used in the app?
