Got Gyno from Finasteride for 2 months

Hopefully it reverts back since I’ve been only on finasteride for a month. I don’t feel any hard lumps and my doctor says she didn’t find any lump 2 days ago. But they do look puffier than before looking back at pictjred

Unlucky bro. Did u try low dose topical finasteride instead? It goes less systemic. I never even got bigger nipples from taking dutasteride for 1.5 years. Shame bro.

This is a warning to everyone about how strong Nocebo is, holy sh*t. I doubt I have gyno because my doctor legit told me it’s fine 2 days ago, and I feel no sensitivity, but I guess my mind wanted me to see puffy nipples and puffy nipples it saw. Even tho looking at back pictures the nipples erect while now they aren’t and pictures are taken at different angles.

Yes I grew more nipple tissue on Topical spironolactone very slightly but thats Because I legit got tingling and pain in nipples. Thats the only way they Will grow bro. Deffo nocebo in your cause just continue with finasteride its all good.

No idea, used a 5% topical cream mixed in alcohol. Used a big chunk everyday.

When I started Finasteride many years ago, my nipples became puffy within the first two weeks, along with burning and constant sensitivity.
Of course, just like you, I really wanted to convince myself it was fine and wanted to keep taking Finasteride to save my hair, so I did.
Later on, the sensitivity and burning subsided, but they slowly kept growing over the year or so that I took it. I coped by telling myself that it was only "fat" since there was no hard lumps underneath and that it would go away once I quit.

Once I finally quit Finasteride due to it not really working for me, the puffy nipples did not go back to normal... I went on raloxifene & tamoxifen to attempt to reduce them and they did about 50%, just so that it's not visible under a shirt, but it still looks "off" when shirtless and I would probably have to do surgery to get it to look completely normal.

If I were you, I'd take pictures and really keep an eye on it over the coming months because the growth can be barely perceptible and yet still happen over enough time.

The main way you can tell the difference between true gyno and pseudo gyno is when you squeeze it. Is the solid tissue in there or is it just soft? Soft means it’s still just fat and can be reversed. Solid tissue means breast tissue has grown and it won’t go away without removal.

Pseudogyno where fat accumulates without gland formation won't cause discomfort.

Also to the OP - if you're going to stick with a 5AR inhibitor, it's worth looking into aromatase inhibitors. My suggestion would be aromasin/exemestane. Make sure you fully understand them though because some of them will cause estrogen rebound if/when you stop.

How long were you on finasteride until you quit? To be honest I decided to quit finasteride, I do feel some lumps on my left breast, but on Wednesday (3 days ago) the doctor said it's fine although a bit swelled, but I don't think the paranoia is worth it even if it's gyno or not. I didn't feel any of the symptoms of gyno like pain, itchiness, or anything like that. Do you think the lumps will reverse back? I've been on finasteride for 31 days at 1.25mg for 25 days and the rest at ~1mg/day.

Also, my chest doesn't look that different from pictures taken right before starting finasteride, so even if it doesn't go back to normal I think I'll be fine. Hopefully it does reverse back tho.

I was on for a full year. And I echo what the guy above says - mine is "only" fatty gyno, just puffy nipples and some white fat around them, absolutely zero hard tissue/gland anywhere, and even so, I could not fully reverse it with medication.

No because using 5AR inhibitors decreases DHT which increases your estrogen to abnormal levels. Pseudogyno is basically fat bloke gyno. Not really the same.

So pseudogyno =/= fatty gyno? Also, if you stop finasteride (so Estrogen can go to normal levels) and get to around 12% of body fat I’m pretty sure the fat on your breast which causes the gyno look (but is not really gyno since there isn’t any lumps) will be burned, maybe they become stubborn fat?

Gyno is just a male chest that has female characteristics; i.e. you don't need to have glands for it to be gyno. IME once you get even fat deposits from excess estrogen it's very hard to shift without surgery. If you had fat there before altering your hormonal levels and then get to a lower body fat, you might lose some of that if you're lucky.

I'll still wait a few months just in case, I don't know if the swelling of the lumps is due to me grabbing it 24/7 or all in my head, or if finasteride is making it swell. I do feel like some people are confusing getting pseudogyno (just fat) with actual gyno (breast tissue).

I'll probably go to a different doctor before starting again to make sure it's fine to start again at lower doses.

U probably are fat with high estrogen to begin with. Get fit and your estrogen Will go down then finasteride wont be an issue at all.

He is. People like him are partially responsible for me staying on Finasteride as long as I did back in 2015-2016 and having gyno develop so much. It was all the same sh*t "It'll go away when you stop Fina bro, lose weight, are you sure they didn't look like that before" and what not.

I was also 72 kg @ 177 cm so not even remotely fat, in fact years before that when I actually was fat at 90 kg I had zero gyno problems, so finasteride will increase your estrogen more than 18 kg of fat will and losing weight cannot counter that.
