Hi everyone,
I've noticed thinning hair the last few years, and I've tried to ignore it. About 13 months ago, I finally decided to do something about it. I had thinning in the front, and a bald spot developing in the back. I had general thinning throughout my scalp as well, although my hairline remained in tact.
So 13 months ago, I started the regimen of Rogaine Foam twice a day, Proscar 1mg/day, and Nizoral Shampoo 3 times week. The bald spot has filled in, and my hair is much thicker than it was 13 months ago. If I maintained what I have the rest of my life, I would be extremely happy.
I haven't noticed any side effects so far while on this treatment. But I am worried about the Proscar. My family, some of which have thinning hair as well, told me that Proscar can make men infertile or cause birth defects. I'm 30 years old, and plan on having kids in the next few years.
I did research on Proscar and infertility, but there's so much varying opinions that I don't know what to think. Can Proscar cause infertility or birth defects? I'm very happy with my results, but the infertility/birth defect issues have me seriously considering getting off Proscar...
If I get off Proscar, but stay with Rogaine/Nizoral, will I still lose what I've regained?
Thanks for any help/input.
