Growing My Hair Out And Can't Tell If I'm Thinning Or Not...

Hey all, hope everything is well!

My concerns:

My main concern is that weird less dense area above my left (right in photo) eye. I can't tell if that's true thinness or just how my hair grows.

I'll admit I am a bit paranoid about balding and have posted a thread here in the past.

I'm 31 if it matters.

I'd be more concerned about your crown than your hairline. Would you say the lighting you took these under is particularly strong? Sometimes that can make a difference how the pictures come out.

Quite strong, yes.

Always kind of had the whirl there in the crown region.

Other people might disagree but I'd say that's a textbook whorl. If the place where scalp shows changes with the angle of your camera, you're good. Might help to get some comparison shots in regular lighting though. Bathroom lights are notoriously strong.

The "less dense area" at your hairline is caused by the same effect. It has to do with the strong lighting and how you part your hair. If you parted it on the other side, you'd see that same effect. This happens a lot with people who have coarse hair with low folicle density. I'd say you're in good shape for 31.

Thank you for the helpful insight.

Took a few more photos of the hairline at present:

Alright, this picture complicates things. I see what you're talking about now. It looks like you've got some thinning at one temple. Your hairline thankfully looks intact, it's just frayed.

Right. And I think it's been this way for quite awhile but I can't be sure as typically I keep my hair shorter than this and can barely tell.

Ugh. Now I'm concerned.

If it's been that way for a long time, it's probably stable at least for the time being. I would either get on finasteride to see if you can regrow some of that hairline, or cut your hair down short again if it doesn't bother you that much.

Photo of me 3 years ago with very short hair. Here you can still kind of make out the less dense region above my left eye.

Seems I've gotten a few varying opinions and as such here's a photo from today. Fresh from the shower still wet with a bit of leave in conditioner in.

The answer is "yes, you have male pattern baldness" seems like you're diffuse thinning, hairline still looks good but definitely diffusing along your whole top.

How can you tell? I think his hair looks perfect! you are a full head but you should keep an eye on that crown at least.

@hollow11 dont mean to be rude, but why are you here if you dont have hair loss?

Look at the first 4 pictures, one of his temple points is in the midst of getting wrecked and his crown is becoming see through.

Sad to say but people will only tell him he's balding once there's a bald SPOT.

Also the fact that his hairline seems surrounded by weak miniaturized hairs. Op get on treatment asap if you wanna appear as a full head for a little longer.
