Growing out my hair - Am I thinning?

Hey there everyone. My name is Isaac and i'm currently growing out my hair. I had it long before. It was thick and beautiful but then I started ironing it daily which destroyed it. I cut it about 2 years ago and here I am 7 months into my regrowth journey. I noticed that this time around my hair is much thinner than it was when I grew it out two years ago. Back then it grew differently too. It had an afro stage for a bit and then it came down, it was wavy and very thick w/ lots of body. This time it's still wavy but the vertex/top is very thin. I don't know what to do and am very paranoid.

Attached are some pictures. As you can see, the hair looks fine from the front and side views...

However the top/vertex is a whole different story...

Granted there was a bit of lighting in the room but still... my hair clumps all the time and reveals scalp. The last pic scares the hell outta me.

Should I schedule a dermatologist meeting? rogaine? what do i do?

Yes. Seems like female pattern baldness. People will probably tell you to jump on Finasteride.

It could be the weight of your hair and how it parts that causes it to look like that. My hair will do the same thing if I grow it long and wear it like you. I do have some diffuse thinning down the middle too. I realized my hair looks the best short and I look so much younger with a short haircut. I notice today short haircuts and buzz cuts are the most popular in fashion. Long hair is really no longer popular unless you are in a heavy metal band or a musician. Even Brady gave up on the long hair too. I think its best to leave the long hair style up to the ladies.

I think its so ridiculous when a NW4 or more wears the long hair in the back and a pony tail. I never understand that look.

It would be far more helpful to see your hairline to tell if you have any hairloss.

Hairline is untouched. But still it seems to me that you have female pattern hairloss. Hairline can stay intact all the time, but the vertex will be thinning.

Lol being male kind of rules out female pattern baldness for him.

:stupid:

I think you are fine, bro. It's normal to see some scalp when your hair is wet. Do you have hairloss in the family?

Dude your hair is fine. Just because someone's hair isn't packed in like a hedgehog's doesn't mean it's thinning out.
