Hey dudes, I recently posted a topic about how the Doctor wouldnt give me proscar...BUT he wrote finasteride 1mg so the pharmacist might accept it. So i found an online pharmacy and bought 60 pills of proscar which is a 300 day supply (cut into 5ths) for 174 canadian!!!! awesome,

BUT, i ran out of propecia, and the order wont be here untill at least friday........ im scared that my hair might start falling out... will I be okay if i don't use propecia for a few days?

And, is proscar hard to cut? i have the diagram and all but should i use a razor blade or a pill cutter?

PS...i paid 900 a last year alone just for propecia.

thanks for any input guys.

You'll be fine without finasteride for a couple of days.

Proscar is easy to cut into fourths using a pill cutter, but if I were using Proscar, I'd probably use a nice box cutter and cut it up.

If you really need some Propecia tabs, I can send you a couple over the mail (if it gets through), because I have a bunch left over that I don't use anymore.

I love my dutasteride.

You'll get a little bit of dust. Just take it with the piece you broke off. I'm sure a sharp box cutter will definitely do the trick, or even an exacto knife.

If you need a couple Propecia pills to hold you over, I'll send them tomorrow. But you're right, Nevada to Canida would take a few days.

Are you using fourths or fifths of Proscar?

im going to cut proscar into 5th's...down the road maybe 4ths.

Im thinking of buying a pill cutter and an exacto/box cutter knife to see what works best...

with a knife, do you sort of saw away at it? and the pill cutter just presses down and cuts the pill with pressure right..? I hope i don't extremely suck at cutting these pills!

i use a box cutter and its fine.

Alternatively, a sharp craft can be used but cut your pill up inside a clear polythene bag to stop it pinging everywhere.

I use a pill cutter to cut my Fincar and its pretty hard to suck at it. You just push down and its cut. Not sure what it would be like with Proscar though the pills are that odd shape. But in my experience of Fincar they are really easy pills to split. I was surprised by how easy they split.

I've been off proscar for 6 months. The shedding didn't start until after 2-3 months off proscar. Not to worry you shouldn't notice any loss.

Thanks...i feel much better now. How long does finasteride stay in the system?

Its half-life is about 6 hours, meaning that it takes about 12 hours for the body to completely metabolize a dose of finasteride.

Its biological effect, however, lingers on for months.

If you stop taking Propecia for a few days, it will be completely out of your system, but there is no way in hell that it will make a difference in your hair, unless you're some weird super-being.

But what if i am a wierd super-being? They say extra terrestrial life walks among us........muuahahahaah.

I just hope this stuff comes in sooner then later. I also found a place that I could get 90 pills of finpecia for 70 dollars. But I still have a better deal with proscar.

I know its almost impossible to get a 1mg dose from cutting proscar into 5th's, but that won't effect my results correct?

Dude, you need to check out your science books again!!!

You´r badly confusing atomic half-life with pharmaceutical half life of substances in the body, and even then you say it only applies to C. Wrong, atomic half-life is applied to every atom, but it´s used in C for the famous C14 desintegration test.

And the Einsteins theory of general relativity has very little to do with all the entire problem, brother.

As far as I know.

This info is from http://emc.medicines.org.uk/emc/assets/c/html/displaydoc.asp?documentid=1190

After an oral dose of 14Cfinasteride in man, 39% of the dose was excreted in the urine in the form of metabolites (virtually no unchanged drug was excreted in the urine), and 57% of total dose was excreted in the faeces. Two metabolites have been identified which possess only a small fraction of the Type II 5 α-reductase activity of finasteride.

The oral bioavailability of finasteride is approximately 80%, relative to an intravenous reference dose, and is unaffected by food. Maximum plasma concentrations are reached approximately two hours after dosing and the absorption is complete within 68 hours. Protein binding is approximately 93%. Plasma clearance and the volume of distribution are approximately 165 ml/min and 76 l, respectively.

In the elderly, the elimination rate of finasteride is somewhat decreased. Half-life is prolonged from a mean halflife of approximately six hours in men aged 18 to 60 years to eight hours in men aged more than 70 years. This is of no clinical significance and does not warrant a reduction in dosage.

In patients with chronic renal impairment, whose creatinine clearance ranged from 955 ml/min, the disposition of a single dose of 14Cfinasteride was not different from that in healthy volunteers. Protein binding also did not differ in patients with renal impairment. A portion of the metabolites which normally is excreted renally was excreted in the faeces. It therefore appears that faecal excretion increases commensurate to the decrease in urinary excretion of metabolites. Dosage adjustment in nondialysed patients with renal impairment is not necessary.

There are no data available in patients with hepatic insufficiency.

Finasteride has been found to cross the bloodbrain barrier. Small amounts of finasteride have been recovered in the seminal fluid of treated patients.

Aplunk, nice signature quote. Nothing Gold can Stay is still one of my favorite albums, even though that genre got old for me.
