Gyno? Pics included...

Hey guys, been on Proscar for about a year and a half, I noticed the past few months I have put on quite a bit of weight.. on the stomach, face, and chest.. I have no lumps or anything in my chest, the fat feels soft there.. Basically im a little considered if I have gyno. I have not had a hormone check up, but I will go to my GP this Friday and see if one can be arranged. My libido is fine, part from a slightly lower sex drive and my jizz splat is watery (lol)

I switched to Dutasteride last week, once every 2 days(and 1.25MG fina in between) because I felt Proscar (1.25MG a day) wasnt doing much, basically I have a few zits here and there now.. But everything else is normal.

Im just concerned about this increased weight, especially in the chest area.. I should also note, I do have some mental fog from taking Proscar/Dutasteride and I have become lazy... I used to exercise quite a bit, then stopped for a while.. the thing is, these drugs I believe have made me quite lazy and tired, so I cant even be bothered to exercise!

I should also note I have ate a bit crappy the past 2 months, but im eating properly as of last week...

Here are some pics of my chest area:

Cheers guys, any replys appreciated

If your chest/nipples are not feeling itchy or even tender to the touch I think a combination of the two statements above is causing your increased chest fat....

Im not sure if i read it above...but do you have puffy nipples or do they stay pretty much hard :D . Your chest pics don't look that bad...it just seems that you put on some weight from being lazy etc. My chest seems worse that yours that mainly because my nipples always stay puffy. I've been on finasteride for 2-3 years as well and recently in the last few months I feel that I am in your situation. I now am taking .5 mg. As far as lumps go....I dont have anything other than the normal small lump right behind the nipple...which I've had before I took finasteride. I never had any nipple soreness, itchiness etc so it may just be chest fat but I am not taking that risk...lets see how .5 does.

I got a lot of chest and belly fat in the 1st 2 months of taking 1mg finasteride. I work out quite frequently and I'm not the kind of person to gain a lot of weight...so it was alarming. I had put on a nice gut and a good amount of chest fat - never had either my whole life. It seemed to appear overnight.

I saw my GP about this, and all he did was shrug his shoulders so I'm on my own. What a douche.

I hear you about the mental fog. I was a shitbag at work during those 1st 2 months. I lowered the dose to 0.5 and now I'm down to 0.25 (for the past couple weeks). I'm hitting hte gym even harder and my weight has stabalized...even gone down a couple pounds. I'm watching my tits like a hawk and if they don't trim down over the next couple of months, I'm quitting.

Don't know why you'd switch to dutasteride. From what I understand, it's supposed to be stronger than finasteride and you're more likely to get these sides, but I could be very wrong.

NHL fan, You didn't tell your GP that you wanted a blood test or anything like that. I would have demanded it.

Stinger, You didnt have any soreness, or itchiness around the nipples etc taht would make you think something was happening?

Hey, stinger. Long time no see.

I think you did gain a little weight, and that it is "gyno" to some extent. But when I saw an endochrynologist, he did some very thorough tests to verify that although I had similar fat in my chest area, it wasn't "gyno", per se. It was simply that I was a little chubby/overweight, but nothing caused by the finasteride I was taking and continue to take.

The test he did included taking a vibrating device (yeah, laugh it up assholes=) and putting it under my foot to see if I was oversensitive to it, and also gave me a very thorough physical, as well as see if my chest was sensitive. True gyno that is going to end up in "man boobs" makes your nipples so sensitive that even wearing a shirt and brushing your shirt up to your nips make you cry.

So I don't think it's anything to worry about. But for peace of mind you can always get it checked. Go to an endochrynologist, not just a regular gp. They are way smart and know what to do. This guy knew about finasteride and its effects more than any derm or Doctor I saw before him.

Good luck.

Get down the f*****g gym and stop eating sh*t for 3 months.

If your b**ch tits ares till there then you have gyno.

If they are not - you have solved your problem whilst staying on treatments and you will now have a healthier lifestyle.

Problem solved!

Gyno doesnt always have to be hard and lumpy nor does it have to be itchy or hurt. It does look like you have gyno and it looks like its progressed a ways.. Dont stress over it too much, lots of guys have it and it can be cured, if you have the money for the surgery.

Dont wait around and listen to the people here that tell you its just fat and that you can work off gyno. You cant work it off. Good luck.

Hey elguapo, hows it going? Hows the regimen?

Well I have put on a lot of weight all over too.. so maybe its not as bad as I think it is.. I can only hope that while I lose weight, I lose the boobs too..

Would using Yohimburn ES or whatever its called cream get rid of it?

How about an Anti-Estrogen?

Cheers guys

Hey stinger,
Well as for the suspected gyno, only a Doctor will know for sure. And how is your hair? I remember seeing pics of your hair a while back, how about an update on that too?

Yo badass mate!

I recall you having gyno too.. But yeah tommorow is my doctors appointment, so I guess I should be patient.. I hope he does let me go for a test and get it examined. My doctor is really fussy..

The truth is, when I was on Proscar for a year and a half.. I just noticed I was maintaining...(I didnt take much notice of my chest back then) But 2 weeks ago when I switched to Duta, my hair loss stopped completely.. I have stopped all treatments completely for the time being until I see my doctor.. best thing to do I guess. I will post some pics up tommorow, as soon as I have seen my doctor.

Hows your hair hanging matey?

Uhm stinger, your post is not clear.

You say you were on proscar and you were maintaining, then you say on dutasteride your hair loss stopped.

er, isn't maintaining = hair loss stopping?

Sorry just starting it was about 1AM when I wrote that post here in the UK.. was kinda stressed out, but heres what I meant:

On Proscar, I was still losing a bit of hair, even when tugging I would lose about 1 or 2 occasionaly. But on Duta, I noticed hardly any hairs falling out, even when tugging.

Hope that is a bit more clear?
