I stopped minoxidil afyer a week. It also gave me terrible eye soreness and swelling with blurred vision and dryness. I also relized I don't want something getting addicted to my hair that only gives results for one year.

I’m starting Humatrope 6mg with 1% topical Finasteride and 5mg oral minoxidil. Nothing has worked. Been on topical Finasteride 2 years and Oral minoxidil 3. Diffuse AF, temples gone.

I am 1/3rds his age and will not be able to get his hairline and density no matter how hard I try. What a poor lad, innit?
**A couple of comments. First agree with you what is the logic of a 2.5%? If some studies use 0.5% or even 0.25% why go to 2.5% which is 25mg per ml! Well, one reason is it works but the higher the concentration the more likelihood of sexual side effects unless there is a way to prevent systemic absorption and I think there is.
A giant step forward is the liposomal formulations that reduce percutaneous absorption by maybe 50%. In other words less FNA is absorbed thru the skin into the body. Now here is the good news..... by adding other components, gels, thickeners, sufactants-- absorption is reduced even more.
I do not have numbers but I will suggest there is very little, maybe not recordable when lower FNA concentrations, ie, 0.5% are used. There are studies that validate the liposomal question of absorption, we know that. Now, you can find that by creating a special type of film or gel there is barely a measurable about of a decrease in DHT levels.
Here is what I suggest, ask your Doctor for a DHT level and a prescription for Liposomal Finasteride at 0.5% and use daily 2-4ml depending on hair length or amount of hair present. Use with Minoxidl 5% to help wet the scalp. The trick is now to find a pharmacy that knows how to make a state of the art product I have mentioned. Farmacia Parati is redicously expensive and a 3 month wait when I sent them a rx.....so get the rx and from your Doctor, he may, like Ron Shapiro MD in Minneapolis, carry this advanced formulation and then get your refills mailed to you at....half the price of Farmacia Parati.....I don't understand why compounding pharmacies do not have the new formulation but I do after many hours of research.
If you cannot find a pharmacy, PM me and I can direct you. I don't think I am allowed to mention a compounding pharmacy.... This new formulation is better, IMHO, with minoxidil 5%, is the absolute best we have going for us.......and it works. I do not work for Shapiro or any physician but I have done the research....don't fret about your hair, I won't guarantee everyone will grows yards of hair but the studies claim great success, in thicker hair and new hair growth. Please do not question my research, try it first or do your own research.....they say it takes 10-12 weeks to see results but some begin to see changes in as little as a month. If it is not liposomal, forget it....oh, I doubt anyone will have side effects.**

Okay, so after a bad expirience after 2 weeks on 2,5% gel from Farmacia Parati 2 month ago, I decided to give it another try. Now I started using 0,05% finasteride gel (50 times lower concetration) every other day.

Strange he complains about shrinkage. My penis has actually grown in size with topical finasteride.
Why is it strange? Because you didn't suffer similar?
I experienced penis shrinkage and testicle shrinkage on topical finasteride using minoxidil as a vehicle but have recovered.
I have used topical finasteride from .25mg up to 1mg daily in a minoxidil vehicle and got worse sides then oral finasteride but much much better hair results.
I then switched to a liposome delivery and I can categorically state nearly all above sides not affected but got new sides, for example face turned red, blotchey red too, more groggy, woke up with severe pain on one side of back of head and had worse stiff neck, had stiff neck on minoxidil vehicle too.
But 100% my hair massively improved, oral finasteride did nothing for my hair, in fact made it worse.

Do not doubt it
Just saying was a huge dosage
But i personally think there is not such thing as bearable dosage
You either tolerate dht blockers or you're not
