I also had my thyroid checked. I couldn't do all the hormones, because I was about to pass out just having them do those three (yah, I know, I'm a big pussy).

How long do results usually take? I almost want to hold off on the propecia till I see the results, but it's probably not worth the wait?

Tests came back: DHT, DHEA and Thyroid were all normal. Testosterone was a little low (229) but the free testosterone was at 2.5% (which apparently is normal).

He gave me the ok for propecia (I've been taking it since Monday).

Any thoughts? Is 229 really low? I had a feeling my testosterone levels would be low (weird how that works). He said that the propecia would probably raise my testosterone levels a bit (which is something i read here) so that may actually be a small benefit of propecia as well.

They're low. Anything under 240 ng/dl can result in development of hypogonadism.

How is your face? Do you have a masculine or a baby face?

I post infrequently on a body building message board and I'm hearing that below 300 is very low. Is that the case? :dunno:

I thought 500 was low, and is reason for older men to get testosterone supplements. Young guys are supposed to be around 800. 1200 if you are on the high side of normal.

Its not having too much DHT that causes male pattern baldness, just that your hair follicles are excessively sensitive to the DHT which you do have.

So you need to get DHT BELOW normal levels.

That was a good last question by the way. I didn't know the answer, and I'm glad I know now.

If you didnt get the blood test before 10am than its useless, id be worried about taking any anti-androgens with a TT level that low, although it does raise T level it also raises estrogens.

So guys with high testosterone have strong jawlines and masculine faces? And guys with fat round feminine like faces have low testosterone?

Its growth hormone which gives the wide jaw not testosterone.
See http://www.pituitary.asn.au/Portals/0/P ... t%20A5.pdf

Testosterone raises growth hormone but not enough to change bone structure.

You can have high testosterone but high estrogens aswell which will dim the masculinizing effects of testosterone.

btw Testosterone mostly only works on muscles and its DHT which is the hormone which works on skin, hair, voice etc. The reason all the concerntration is on testosterone is because it is the main precursor male hormone, without testosterone you wont have estrogens or DHT, and its the abused substance.

Comming from someone who is on testosterone replacement, you cant look at someone and tell if there testosterone is high or not, some examples are lance armstrong I would assume cause he was an athlete hed have high testosterone but its not the case, also I was a lil shocked to hear of someone here who had testicular cancer to still have male pattern baldness early.

DHT at 4 for one person can be the same as DHT at 2 for another, everyone has diffrent levels of hormones thats normal for them, alot of other things factors into it such as amount of androgen receptors, and estrogen levels.

Thanks for the info highONDht, i actually never knew that before. Well i suspected it might be testosterone but i certainly didnt know it was growth hormone that changes face shape. Although people in the link obviously have a disorder. But usually men with stronger jawlines are considered more attractive to females.

I did some research on that a while back, when women are ovulating and there testosterone levels are higher they are more likely to go for men with more masculine features such as a stronger jaw line, but at other times they are more likely to go for that more baby faced look, the studies concluded that masculine features are seen as more dominant but less trustworthy in a longterm relationship, and babyfaced guys were percieved as making better fathers. But personally I believe it comes more down to personal preference or my personal theory on "simular facial characteristics" a baby faced women will go for a baby faced guy, dark hair for dark hair, etc more often than not.
My cousin is baby faced and has feminine(for a guy) features such as big eyes, thick eyelashes, he naturally looks like he plucks his eyebrows and wears mascara and girls love him, but he does not have a strong jawline or cheek bones or any sort of chiselled look, just rugged.

Yeah i read that article also! i couldnt find the old article i read but another similar one here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4261489.stm

But yeah as the article states the hotter women (or at least the ones that rate themselves as hotter than average) prefer the masculine face, but majority of females (normal looking) prefer the feminized male face. In recent times ive noticed girls starting to like the feminine face more and more. Just like your cousin, big eyes, round face, big full lips high eyebrows etc. Personally i think guys like this look REALLY weak. Yes they are pretty but in days of old they would of been crushed by there more masculine brothers. My theory is women are really in love with themselves, hence why they like a feminine face more, its like looking in the mirror. But men arnt ment to be pretty! We are ment to be powerful and intimadating looking. Well thats what i think anyway.

But honestly when i talk to girls from any race aged from 14-40 one name seems to come up ALOT more than any other and thats Johnny Depp! Chicks love him! He must have indredible universal appeal. And he has a very strong jawline/chilsed face. See below.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0007 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg

In fact most of the most of the most desrible males in hollywood i can think of all have strong jawlines. Including David Beckham who was recently voted worlds hottest most masculine man by about 5 million internet votes. (dont how he won that considering his voice) but as you can see from the pic below he is far from femmine looking. Infact his face shows very strong male characteristics, low brow, square jaw, very neanderthol looking....Yet he appeals to women across all ages and races. Only baby face in hollywood I can think of is Leonardio DeCaprio.

Ya women prefer different things. Pretty amazing concepts. I think you guys might have compulsive disorder where you obsess with things like say what women like, hair and so on. How about living and not worrying about it? its pretty worthless and unimportant information anyways. Im pretty glad I didnt waste my life performing such worthless studies. Everyone is different and prefers different people what kind of stupid general vague information is that?
