Hair Color Change (New photo)

For 5 months I have only been used Rogaine Foam and suplements. Bad shed then some improvement. What I have noticed is a color change. I was sort of salt and pepper when I started and now the hair down around my neck and on the sides above my ears is all black. No gray at all. It almost looks like I dyed my hair and it is now growing out. Has anybody else experienced this? Specifically gray back to old color.

This is from my start finasteride photo collection. Maybe it shows what I'm talking about. I altered the contrast just a bit to show it better, I think. Connect the arrows. In artificial light it's more pronounced. In fact in some light I look like I have almost no gray, in other light I look almost entirely gray. (I need a haircut.)

Re: Hair Color Change

Interesting. How old are you? Can it be some of the ingredients in the preparation that counteracts hydrogen peroxide and/or stimulates methionine sulfoxide reductase?

EDIT: you said you use supplements? Which ones? I am using l-methionine

Re: Hair Color Change

I'm 45. I just looked at it really close. It has gotten really dark. Top looks about as gray as normal. I call them supplements. Saw Palmetto extract, Biotin, Multi Vitamin. Just added Omega Three fish oil but more for joint health I think although I see it written about here. Also just started finsetaride, less than a week ago.

I looked at many photo on here and saw other color changes. Normally just lighter to darker. Was wondering about gray to original color.

I honestly think Rogaine foam has helped quite a bit. Hair is thicker than before, although my initial shed was devestating. I might merely be back to where I started. I actually got a your hair looks good comment a few weeks ago. I'm just getting it cut very short every six weeks or so, so that was a bit of a surprise.

I've been posting here for around two weeks. It is nice to finally get one thoughtful reply. Thanks vaux!

Re: Hair Color Change

It is kinda common. Just look in sucess story section, many people get darker hair on a regiment. I got it myself, during the summer where it usually get a bit lighter

Re: Hair Color Change

Just chiming in, my hair went from medium brown to basically completely black and I'm 8 months into treatment. Everyone asks me if I died my hair. I'm not complaining because its working.

It makes me think there's some colorant in the foam.

Re: Hair Color Change

I assume that you guys are only seeing darkening in the area where you're actually applying the foam, right?

Re: Hair Color Change

My hair changed color in an area where I am not applying Rogaine. About an inch worth of hair all around my head from above one ear, around the back along my neck, to the other ear. It is very noticeable in person in my bathroom but I had a hard time getting a photograph that showed it in natural light.

I have considered the possibility that it's always been like that and I am now much more aware of what's going on, or not going on with my hair.

I'm hoping (very hard) that I am growing new hair that is similar in color the what I had 5-10 years ago.

Until I was 35 I had the thickest hair you can imagine. When it started to thin I was actually happy because I could try some other hair things. I rocked a Beatles haircut for far too long! Then it started leaving in droves. I kind of wish I had started treatment about five years ago.

Here's a quick story. I was on a submarine for 4 years. Everytime we went out for more than three months my mates and I all shaved our heads. Completely bald. It was just easier to maintain. One time we broke down about four days after we went to sea and pulled into Scotland for 4 weeks for repairs. We all figured we'd be out of luck meeting local girls because the bald look was definitely not in vogue in the mid 80s. I never did better with the ladies. I was all attitude back then. Wonder why I've been thinking about that lately? I'm still 75% attitude!

Thanks for a very nice compliment and if I do continue to regrow I'm going for a young George Harrison doo! One can dream.......
