My mom had dark brown hair and my dad had really dark, almost black hair before theirs went grey. Mine is light brown, and was very blond as a kid. Maybe I get my color from my paternal granddad whose hair was light brown too.
My hair was very thick before male pattern baldness struck. I think that's from my dad because his was very thick too up until his 20s.
My male pattern baldness I probably inherited from both sides. My dad, his two brothers, both my mom's brothers, and both my granddads developed male pattern baldness between the ages of 25 and 40. My mom's dad never went past about Nw3.5 though. My hair started thinning aggressively around the age of 26, and my hairline started receding and had reached Nw2.5 by age 27 when I begun treatment. Thanks to using Dutasteride for the last four years, now at age 31 I'm a thick Nw1.5-Nw2. Had I never treated it, I'm pretty sure I'd have followed in my father's footsteps and been half bald by now. My dad was about a Nw4.5 in his mid 30s, and is now a Nw7 at age 63.
